Are you sure they supplied you M35 ones?

When I got mine, I requested softer springs & was told they would not supply anything more than 2kg/mm different from standard - I suppose so the shocks & springs were still 'matched'.

I'm having trouble remembering what the standard rates are (12 & 10?), but if so mine are 10 & 8.

8 & 6 sounds too soft, unless they did some changes to the shocks.

BTW, other manufacturers supply 5 - 6 kg/mm springs, so could be OK, even very nice, if shocks valved to suit.

Interested to hear what you think when they're in.

The supplier was boostin imports. I questioned the rates before purchase and stated that most of you guys had 10 and 12, but he insisted that they would be too hard for street use.

I've got the damper set to 21 from soft and it still seems a bit soft. I doubt they did any changes to the shocks. And no i'm not sure if they are m35 ones apart from the supplier stating that they are. The front seem ok, except for the damper having to be set to the firmer end of the scale. I will contact the supplier and see what he thinks.

Those rates seem very soft; your supplier should know that the attachment point of our springs & shocks are in from the ends of the arms which requires heavier rates to accommodate the extra leverage.

The rear spring seats are only just past the middle of the arm, and the front struts attach around 75% of the length of the arm.

Yeah, but as Dale was saying, you can't compare spring rates between different cars because of varying suspension geometry. 6kg/mm might be really stiff on one car but too soft on another, regardless of vehicle mass.

I got the Just Jap standard rates of F 10kgs R 8kgs. The rears sat a bit too low for me and I carry a lot of gear in the boot so I eventually got myself a set of 12kgs for the rear. Sits about 20mm higher than the 8kgs.

Are the 12kg's really firm? I carry a fair bit of gear around too.

Could anyone have a look at they're bc springs and post the part numbers up on here?

This is what I have got and i'm pretty sure they are not right but I need to find out. It would be good for others future reference also.

Front: 62 200 010

Rear: 62.97.255.008

The 12kgs are firm without being harsh. No need to slow down for speed bumps....... well anymore than usual.

My spring numbers are :-

Front 10kg 62.200.010

Rear 8kg 62.97.255.008

Rear 12kg 62.97.260.012

The BC spring part numbers are the spring specs. Your fronts have an internal diameter of 62mm top and bottom with an uncompressed length of 200mm and a rate of 10kgs. Your rears have an internal top diameter of 62mm, internal bottom diameter of 97mm, free length 255mm and spring rate 8kgs. So you've got the same springs as I do.

    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.  
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.     
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!  
    • We import a lot of cars from Japan. I'd say that approximately 20% of our traffic is imported JDM cars (mainly consumer cars like the Mazda Demio, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Suzuki Swift, etc.). We also import a lot from the UK, but this has decreased after Brexit. Apart from the consumer vehicles, two of the larger, well-known dealerships frequently import iconic '80s/'90s JDM cars. I haven't heard of anyone importing from Australia, and they are not advertised (unlike Japanese ones), despite a lot of Maltese migrating to Australia in the '50s and '60s.
