if everything else is still standard (bottom end, head bolts etc) then i'd just stick with a nissan gasket. 30e gasket is around $95 from nissan

That's what my OEM RB26 gasket cost from Nissan (trade). Genuine exh. manifold gasket cost more than the headgasket!

Genuine exh mani gasket cost like $120 trade :(

I've found Nissan really good in some aspects but then others like seals (forget it) and idlers/tensioners I source elsewhere (get my idler/tensioner bearings from Statewide Bearings for dirt cheap!).

the only thing with the nissan head gasket is i cant order the thickness i want...

beacause if they have to shave the head a fair bit to get it back to flat i will need a thicker gasket for the right compression wont i?

Not always. What they take off is usually only 5-10 thou. Most of the time it would be less. But thats only a maximum of 0.250mm. So long as you have adequate piston to valve clearance, the extra compression wont be alot or bad. If anything it will make it abit more responsive off boost and help reduce lag by some immeasurable amount.

Unless you are building a low comp big boost high hp motor, then it would be a different story.

I will attempt to find out. I didn't do the decking, I bought the setup like that when I built my first 30. I got the block/head/pistons from a matching setup and chucked in a stock crank and rods. I'm now using the same head on a stock n/a bottom end.
