Not anymore mate. I've spent a bit at vu's and always gives good prices. Wanted $300 for a GTR front bar in QM1 white

Yeah... Panels are worth $300 ea now...

vu does an ok job but with paint you get what you pay for literally

Of coz, I know that :)

That's why I only want a touch up job, coz with my luck, the chance of me getting my car fixed professionally then someone will just do a hit and run on me is pretty high lol

Therefore, I only wanna hide it for now, enough so I would want to sell clean/polish/wax my car (it's been over a year since I polished it....) until someone can pay for the repairs :P

Wrap it, you know you want to tongue.gif

I had my bonnet wrapped for a month, but it really wasn't my thing :(

I like my car all one colour lol.

But my alternative would be, pay Vu $600-700 to paint my front bar, sideskirts and this bonnet lip to cover up the bonnet damage lol

Hmm....

Carbon looking bonnet is bit outlandish, just curious how much would it cost you to wrap the front bar? (materials etc)

In this case, paint them properly and pray someone don't drive into it.

can of spray putty 15$

can of undercoat 10$

can of clear (maybe) 10$

masking tape 2$

some paint??

go to paint mobile get some matching paint in acrylic, if you cant get a pressure pack we can

touch up the scratches with an airbrush and polish it will be close to unoticable..

sling us a few bucks and we can polish the whole car if you like. or maybe you could just wrap some stuff for me

we can do it next weekend Charles if your not happy you can bitch to everybody on the forum what a shit job i did.. ;)

that bonnet lip would be cool wrapped in CF though

Material might cost me $60-80 for front bar? But it'd be a bitch to wrap and I'd rather not haha.

Done and done, is it better to get 2 pac in a tin or acrylic in a can?

I'll definitely be happy if you can make my car look any better than what it is now :P

Oh and I'll be more than happy to wrap stuff for you in return or just give you some monies :)

Sunday sound good? I finish work at 11am.

Oh and should I start preparing the sideskirts? And how should I go about them? So noob at this

Theres a paint place in ferntree gully on burwood hwy that make decent paint in a can, only prob is matching the paint if its not a factory color.

You front bar looks fixable but you should paint the whole thing, you can buy stuff to fix bumpers, i used it when i did my hr31 bumper and it covered up the massive scrape and once sanded you would never no it was there.

Paint $50 2 cans

primer $15

bumper fix stuff $20

sand paper and blocks $30

clear $ 15

You could do your bumper and skirts for around $100-150, if the paint match is half decent then it should turn out pretty good.

Imo the bumper isnt even that bad, maybe just have a crack at the skirts first before you try the bumper and see how it comes up.

Sorry Arthur!

I just got too excited last night and because I had a day off today, I thought I'd give it a go and wow.. pretty happy with the results.

I went and got the paint matched in acrylic today and put into a spray can. Bought primer, prepsol, filler and other things, cost me a total of $81.

And here's the results:

good job. if i paid someone to paint/repair my bumper every time it got cracked and scuffed, i could have bought another skyline by now :P

lol xD

How many coats of paint did you apply?

I did about 4-5 coats and I tried to blend it with the old paint

dont sorry me im glad u did it yourself. :D

I never wanted you to pay me to do it i just wanted to show you how easy it is to do yourself..id put a thick coat of clear on it for shine and keep it waxed acrylic tends to fade...Im still happy to polish it if you want

Thanks for all the encouragement Arthur :D

Since I've sprayed it, I've got lots of questions lol.

-I've been told that I won't need a clear coat on this yellow as it is just a flat colour, true or false?

-I've been told to wait at least 3-4 weeks before I start wet sanding it with 2000 grit, so the paint harden, what should I do?

-Would it matter if I put the bar back onto the car and drive it with it un-sanded?

Thanksssss :D

Paint you can usually sand almost straight away, I dry it with a hair dryer/heater and wet sand within 30min to an hour but

how did you dry/sand the filler??

you sure they didnt mean let the filler dry for a week..

Doesnt matter, you know how to do it now if it falls off just try again..lol..either way it looks heaps better than it did

look at anyones car close enough and you will find blemishes, I saw your car drive past me in Hallam about 2 weeks ago and it looked fine to me..but next time i see it i will be looking directly at theses spots. ;)

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
