If you guys are still looking for a motorsport co-ordinator or someone to assit same, I am new to the club but have had 15 years experience in organising driver training, supersprint and track days for the HSV Owners Club. I already have 4 track days booked for next year and am a CAMS accredited Clerk of Course and Chief Scrutineeer. Would like to get involved as I am now a confirmed Skyline nut (refer intro http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/385136-hi-guys-newbie-from-sydney/! ).

Hey Brett, welcome to SAU!

Now that all of this year's events are done and dusted, us Execs will be mostly taking a break over Christmas and New Year's before we get back together in January to set up stuff for 2012.

You Brett and a couple of others I'm sure, will make a strong Exec even stronger; and without any hiccups in continuity :)

2012 under the leadership of Eric has a wonderful outlook. I can't be there I'm afraid but having served under Neil, Steve-0 & Duncan I can see how Eric is trying to utilise the strengths of all of these guys into a well oiled machine!

Good on you guys for putting your hands up!!!!!

Uncle SAU needs you!!!!

Guys,

I haven't heard back from anyone since I put a post in this thread late last year. I am coming down to Wakey on the 24th with Patrick Hamilton (Hamiltonau) who is entering in his R33 but I'm not as I am his chaufeur for the w/e (no licence!). We are both running in the NSCC day the next day.

.

I am happy to help out on the day as I am a CAMS bronze scrutineer and bronze Clerk of Course. I want to meet up with those of you who organise and run these days as I may be able to add value to what you are doing and trying to achieve.

I have been running track days and superpsrints for 12 years and currently run track days for the HSV Owners Club including NSCC of which I am also a member of both. I invite non-members to enter and would like to extend an invite to SAU members. I just need to know where I can put up all the details for the first one on Fri 30 March at Wakey. I have also booked EC North and EC South later in the year.

Let me know if I can help out and if I can post up the track day details or you can email me at [email protected]

Brett

Laurie,

I sent you a PM over 2 months ago (as seen below) and never received a reply. I could not email you because you never provided an email address, and usually when I am free to call you it is often beyond 10pm.

I have, unfortunately, been extremely busy since then... I did receive your cheque and it is still here, uncredited to the Club's account - I'm either nowhere near a bank branch when I have the cheque, or don't have the cheque when I might be near a branch.

nick-t, on 7/05/2012 i received your letter re my paid for order for blue zip up hoodie size l or xl,today is now 29/05/2012 and no sign of hoodie winter will be here soon please send asap virgin white.

Soo...

so Kats not on the commuter as its 2013.

I believe Eric has te website up and running, but I believe he and other execs are busy with other higher priority items.

Please feel free to offer some assistance to the club if you feel things in a purely voluntaril club aren't happening fast enough.

    • I swear at my GKTech ones every time I have to take them apart and replace a spherical. But I wouldn't swap them for anything else. They absolutely slay every other option, at least in terms of how they actually work. You sure you don't want to live with bearings? I mean, they don't have "ball bearings". They are rod ends and sphericals throughout. Tough as nuts, even though I have found more than one way to wear them out.
    • From when I was looking at getting the 86 engineered for the turbo, the joint said to put in a few euro 5 or 6 cats, then tune the car on a nice clean E85 tune When I was looking at a turbo for the MX5, it was basically the same thing, a couple of cats and a nice clean tune Although, it will depend on the year of the Jeep IRT emmisions standards required, and what mods are done, especially if it has a newer engine installed that requires a higher Euro
    • Yeah - but it's not actually that easy. There are limits for HC, CO, NOx and particulates. Particulates shouldn't be a concern in any petrol engine unless trying to comply to the very latest Euro standard. But getting a tune right so that all the others stay within limits AT THE SAME TIME is not a trivial exercise. You couldn't possibly get it right by just guessing at the tuner's dyno, unless he had a 4 gas analyser up the pipe, which is not often the case these days. It used to be. Every decent shop that did "tune ups" (as opposed to tuning) would have a 4 gas analsyer. Perhaps there's still quite a few of them around these days. But most "tuners" are only watching O2 and power readings.
    • Slight segway but the most expensive part of the whole thing which I would have thought would only be required for an engine size/type swap, not a VIV test, is emissions testing.  That's when you get into the big bucks.  I can't remember the exact price now but I got quotes for the GT-R based on swapping to RB30 (not that anyone bothers doing it legally anymore...) and it was around $4500 just for that alone.  The guy that does them manipulates the tune on the vehicle to make sure it passes.  The cheaper option is to book into Kangan Batman Tafe (I think that's where it was) and hire their tester.  Allegedly you're not allowed in there with the car though so not in a position to tweak anything to make sure the vehicle passes.  I'm sure in this day and age of ultra tuneable ECU's you could get the tuner to program a special efficiency (clean) tune that emits the lowest amount of particulates possible that would pass the test.  It might only make 50kW's but as long as it passed who cares!
    • I'm sure he has left signs, or, he is looking down, laughing That's my cunning plan for when I leave, lots of half finished projects, with no rhyme or reason of where I was actually up to, just to keep everyone on their toes
