Hey guys got a gtt and recently got a Kakimoto cat back.

When I give it some sometimes I hear a pop like a back fire, and when I'm slowing down via transmission I get that gargle noise that you hear all the v8s have (to a lesser extent ofcoarse). Just wondering:

If these things noises are bad?

What causes them?

And would I see much power gains/other benefits with 3" turbo back with a stock cat or would the stock cat act like a bottle neck so no point getting 3" turbo back??

mild improvement with the 3" turbo back but you really should replace the cat while you are at it.

the pops are just unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust, nothing to worry about.

this,

Could also be a leak in the exhaust system. go over the joins again and check the bolts are done up nice n tight..

Point 1. Cats are relatively cheap.

Point 2. Stock cat is tiny.

Conclusion 1. Get a bigger cat.

Question 1. Pop/backfire is on th rev limiter? Or when you go off throttle to on throttle?

Question 2. Gargle means what? You mean large exhaust low flow resonance like you'd expect in a big pipe?

I see, will a high flow cat increase noise alot though??? I don't really want much more of a drone while driving I hate that noise :P

Would a 3" cat be good enough or do you think a 3" high flow should be put in place??

Tha ks for you time Titan

Hmm alright I'll check that Aaron, I'm pretty sure they got te apprentice to tighten them up, he didn't look the strongest :P

I'll check it soon thanks.

Yeah pretty close to redline from just with foot to the floor.

Haha yeah I think I do, I thought thatd be nothing but I thought I'd ask.

I think I'll replace the cat too if it doesn't increase noise which was said in my last post.
