Hi

Its Gus here. Yes I bought Adam's car. Ive done 'some' nice mods to it since.

Its definitely a sleeper that surprises some people who think they have fast cars...

I need to sell it as I am getting close to finishing my gt40 project and some big bills like

paint and engineering fees are coming up.

Otherwise I would be mad to sell my 260...I mean I just spent all this money recently on it

in engine mods, reliability, servicing, interior styling etc etc...

My view of a 260 is, it is the best thing since the gtr....as I get older, the ol two seater coupe

gtr is not very functional as a daily driver...but why miss out of the gtr power...

I've tuned the car fairly conservatively at only 17-18psi (for N1s that is)...but a quick visit to a dyno

and a fine tune on the nistune ecu that is installed will allow you to unleash its full potential...

Then you might consider bigger tyres

I went from a stagea type s (series 2 manual) to an Evo 9. I must admit I miss the stagea and am considering getting rid of the Evo for a 260. Stageas have a quality feel that is sadly lacking in the Mitsubishi. Also I find the Mitsubishi a bit tiresome for daily driving whereas the stagea was just as happy cruising round the city as exploring country roads.

Plus the boot space in the stagea is awesome, Evo boots are crap.

Well this had made me start thinking, I'm looking at trading in my rs4s on an evo, is there actually that many down sides to the evo? Once my stag is tuned in a few weeks it will be making over 250kw, will the evo really feel like poo compared to the stagea? Sorry for highjacking the thread.

Funny. I went from an Evo 8MR to an M35.... The Evo was modded with around 230awkw, I really miss it. Sure the Stag is more practical but the Evo was such a sharp tool. I enjoyed driving the Evo everyday, the Stag is much more of a lounge on wheels.

When I can find someone in W.A who can tune the VQ25det I may change my tune.

I own a a 270ish kw 260RS and while it is quick, it's taken plenty of $$$$ to get it that way, I love the car what else can you put a 7kg front loader in the boot of and still smash WRXs at the lights?

keep in mind the C34s are a large car with a long wheel base and plenty of over hang at the front and in stock form are quicker than the average waggon but not neck breaking.

I get to drive Evos 5-8 fairly regularly, they are a completely different car, An evo is a smaller, lighter and better handling and was designed to be a sports car, a Stagea/260RS is a big heavy comfortable family waggon with the motor and drive train of a GTR.

The 260RS is great car i love owning and driving mine, but don't buy one thinking you are getting sports car.

If you can afford it why not keep the evo for play time and pick up a cheap RS4 stagea for family duties they arent worth much these days.

Don't get me wrong I love driving the evo, only problem is in Melbourne most of that time is spent in traffic or crawling around under the speed limit as there are so many bloody speed cameras. For that sort of driving a comfortable lounge on wheels with an RB26 in it is very appealing.

I must admit I have never been in an M35 so I don't know how they compare to a C34 but I always thought my C34 handled pretty good although they are definitely a big heavy car compared to the evo.

Ultimately they are both different cars for different purposes, if you wanna take something to the track Evo, if you wanna sit in traffic and look cool and maybe through a mountain bike in the boot Stagea.

Plus the Stagea boot is massive and the seats fold flat, if you are lucky you also get the factory dark tints. What better car to take the missus out to a romantic spot for the evening for a bit of back seat action, can't do that in an evo (Stagea is the best shagging wagon ever made lol)

LOL I like the way you think!

The Missus suggested this a few times but I always say no as I don't wan't any stains....:whistling:

Classic. That was actually part of the reason we got it, the ability to fit a mattress in the back for camping.

Don't get me wrong I like that Stag but the Evo was almost part of my soul. I loved that bloody car. I have about the 40km drive to work every morning and it made it a lot of fun, I think once I can find someone over here to bring the VQ to life and give me 250 + 800 at the hubs I'll be a lot happier

Surely there is someone that can fit an emanage ultimate, perhaps you could install it yourself then just find a tuner to run it up for you? Anyone over there work with the emanage?

Believe it or not no one over here really wants to touch an emanage. I sent off an e-mail regarding an f-con with the VQ and no response yet, I'll make a few more calls later this week....... I'd love to be able to do it myself but I'm useless with that sort of thing.

Ask me to make you a 7 course degustation and I have no problems but anything to do with cars I'm useless. I just want somewhere I can drop it off and pick it up a week later with the exhaust, engine management, boost controller ect ect done but alas at this point in time with that engine it appears to be too hard - with emanage anyway so f-con may be the way to go but it appears to be a very specialist field.

If it wasn't so bloody expensive I'd have the car freighted over east and then back again. Going over isn't too bad but $1100 the other way is just too much $$$

The Evo is an awesome little car but where the fark is the torque at? I'm constantly having to downshift to overtake if i'm in 5th cruising on the freeway.

Smelly little four bangers

Seriously, i love the Evo to bits but no matter what, it will never EVER sound like an RB26 :(

There's something about the sound of an RB26 on open throttle that raises the hair on the back of my neck.

5k in mods should get you a fair whack of torque for a 4 cylinder, I had 550nm at the hubs with my 8mr and 5k worth of mods anyhoo.

Yeah? Howcome you got rid of the Evo?

Not enough savings and I had to spend money on my house to fix up a few things..... I figured time to be sensible, also at the time I didn't realize the VQ25DET would be so damn hard to mod if i got back my power craving... Which I have...... In spades.

u will still have to do this in the 260. ive taken my 260 from stock to 450hp and now has benn fully rebuilt to rb28 with gt42 hanging of the side so due to the rb26 the skys the limit. heaps of room in the back and stand out from the crowd more than the evo. 260RS FTW!!!

    • Dumb question, but why would it matter if the wheel came off a car with hicas or not?
    • Hey to anyone that reads this, long time lurker first time posting, sorry if it’s been answered before but I’ve been looking for nearly a year now for answers. ive got a 25det neo in an r32 that works awesome when it works (made 500whp on 21psi) but works 45% of the time, 1st issue there’s a harness that runs under the passengers side front fender that my tire keeps rubbing through and one wire seems to power the fuel pump even though I’ve done the relay “mod” some people like to call it, and when it does rub through it kills the car, yes next time I’m with the car I want to take the fender off and try tuck the harness well out of the way but I’d also like to try and by pass this mysterious wire as well lol, also wouldn’t mind getting power from the alternator as I’ve read it supplies the pump with 13v ? But no idea where to run the power wire too. 2nd issue, when replacing my fuel pump and fuel hanger I managed to break the factory fuel level sender leaving me with no fuel gauge, I’d like to buy the fpg fuel level sender for r32/s13 but the plug it comes with confuses me, I’ve got a detschwerks x1 fuel hanger which has light + pump - level + pump + and a ground, I’m no auto sparky but I’m wondering if I can cut the plug off the fuel level sender and wire the negative to the pump negative and wire the positive to the level positive to get a fuel gauge back ?🥴 3rd and final issue, the reason I want a fuel gauge is because whenever it’s below half a tank, it fuel starves like crazy and runs like a bag of shit even without doing a pull or sloshing the fuel round in the tank, I’d also like to fix this but have no idea what’s causing it, I’ve got a dw420 and a dead head fuel setup meaning the fuel is regulated before it gets to the engine, my only theory is that the return line is to close to the pickup on the pump and when it’s at half a tank the return line is causing the pump to cavitate enough to cause fuel pressure issues, that or the pump isn’t low enough in the tank which I would find strange considering I can’t find a single thing online about it, also if ya wondering how I figured out it happens at half a tank without a fuel gauge, I waited until it started happening and went and filled up and the car took exactly 30 litres every time I tested it, if ya managed to read through this mess I appreciate that and any recommendations , cheers
    • ChatGPT is trash and lies about things I would not expect it to lie about considering many things it's wrong about are very easily verified with google. The S3 R33 GTR shares its steering wheel with R33 GTSTs of the same production year. Part number is 48430-26U17. I'm guessing you have to get it from a car that came with HICAS though, the ER33 is 48430-26U18, but the HR33 diagrams note that part number is still leather vs 48430-26U13 which is not leather-wrapped. They all use the same airbags, so if you need another one you can get it off basically any same year R33 or Stagea.
    • I'm going to run hard lines front to back in the future. That should help dissipate a bit more heat. If not, a fuel cooler might be next
    • No. The mark is with respect to the cam rotation. None of those things have altered it. When stationary, the cam position stays in sync with the crank position. It doesn't matter if you moved the head 4 feet up. Hence, that mark needs to stay exactly where it is.
