How Do I Remove This Car Window Shade Thingo?

Recommended Posts

Hey

I want to remove this thing but I don't know how.

I don't even know what its called.. "Car Window Shading Ugly Brown Stuff"

It seems to be taped down with double sided tape. Not sure tho, if I try to pull it, the tape thing kind of stretches and looks sticky.

How do I properly remove it? Is there like products to remove it? What do I do? It's so brown and I hate it lol

Also there are some metal clip things hooking onto the black rubber thing attached to the car: shown in the pics..

I think they are called wind deflectors, that's what I call them anyway. Get a bit of packing tape to cut through the double sided tape. Looking at your pictures it hard to tell how the metal clips are holding to the deflector but the metal clips should just be sitting under the door rubber seal. If there is any tape left on the car get some prepsol and plastic pry tool or even use your fingers. Just squirt some prepsol on the tape hold a rag underneath to catch all the excess prepsol and let it sit or a minute or 2 and repeat a few times. After a few squirts of prepsol use a plastic pry tool or you finger to remove the tape. Might take a few goes to remove it all.

Deller,

It's just that I took up a new goal for my car to be black and not having any parts being a different colour, with the exception of white, and not brown.

Like just recently I've ordered smoked white indicator lights with orange bulbs to replace the current orange ones and also painted my wheels black.

So yeah.. anyways..

thanks olloSKYLINEollo

Will see how it goes thumbsup.gif

Paint it black? I don't think that would look very good.. yucky.gif

I'd rather remove it for a better look.

It didn't bother me much until I kept seeing other R34's without it.

It just bottled up inside and only just recently I'm like " Thats it, its coming off! "

Then why don't you just paint them black?....

Mine are turning purple/brown.

Would you recommend just painting them black (non see through) or with those black (smoked) lens paints?

I personally would recommend CF wrapping it haha.

But to your question, I reckon smoked is cool

  • 3 weeks later...

RIght.....

I am in the process of starting up a thread with all the stuff iv done to my car in the past.

One of the things I did do was paint these "window wind protector things".....I painted them with a plastic primer and then gloss black paint....

They match my car...and look awesome....

They are also quite handy...they keep the wind off your face (if you drive with your window open) and more importantly..they keep the water droplets off...

Like when you wash your windscreen and all the annoying water bits spray on you...it helps..trust me

Also they act as a good sunshade...

Why remove them..when you can paint them....and / or wrap them in carbon fibre etc..

I would rather you just paint them..but then again..thats just me

Cheers
