R34 Hicas Questions

Would plainly like to know how to successfully lock/delete my hicas completely and properly as im hoping to do it soon before i get my car back on the road...any answer from experience etc would be sweet,

In a GTT its one of the easiest jobs you can do....

Buy a decent lock bar, remove the shi77y hicas by unplugging it all and taking the tie rod ends out of the hicas, then unbolt it and throw it at ya neighbours cat as that's all they are good for :rofl2:

Just make sure when you bolt it all back up you get it wheel aligned as mine moved from the factory position, also make sure you plug the wiring for the ABS again and cable tie it all back up... Pop the globe out from behind the dash cluster otherwise it will shit you!!!

Thanks a lot for the info mate, really keen on getting rid of it...its caused me nothing but annoyance

Especially when my car decides to lose traction at high speeds and the hicas makes it difficult to correct from oversteering the back more than needed, its honestly unsafe from my point of view

Sounds all easy enough to deal with so as soon as my new turbos fitted and the cars back in running order ill get straight onto it...ill be sure to give the neighbors cat a scare too biggrin.gif

Just be aware of the potential engineering/insurance implications; From what I understand it's seen as removing a 'safety device' and needs to be engineered. Quite a few in Adelaide have been caught out on this one.

It should be relatively cheap/easy to get this modification engineered if required. The risk is up to you (and probably depends on where you live).

In most situations where HICAS is acting up, it tends to be because something is worn (HICAS racks are kwown to get 'slop' in them), incorrectly aligned (steering wheel angle sensor) or not operating correctly (dead caps in the HICAS ECU).

Fun and games ... I got an NZ warrant failure on the R34 HICAS tie rod ball joints(outer) being stuffed, the only source for those is Nissan agent ( the people in robbery masks). The parts have a curve in them to maintain a straight line along the tie rod to the wheel stump that fits the tie rod

To hard fix the rear wheels it would be an idea to have wheel alignment adjustment in the lock bar arrangement ?

Any chance of a photo of the mod :rolleyes:

I wonder if the failure was helped by the 200 metre country gravel driveway that is down to the bumpy scalps base, its like cobbles.
