Well I have to ask because I have been there twice in the past two weeks(fishing) and both times have had a variety of drivers in their japanese imports taking on these roads. Has anyone here done it? Just last night I saw 3 seperate times where there was a 180sx driving at snails pace on the bends but then booting it through the straights up the top. Then a S13 which was pretty ballsy around some turns I saw. Then a psycho R33 driver who almost ended up in the water because he didn't see the barricade haha. They then parked their car and when I was making a little fire to keep warm one of them was like "dude what the f**k hes making a fire". Then they came flying past again.

I'm fair keen to drive this road. The sound reverb down in the valley sounds awesome so I want to get someone I know with a camera down there as I drive through. The roads aren't too smooth but just holding second and cruising through looks like an awesome drive. Hopefully the gates don't get shut after sun down.

The other time I went there I saw a few guys on their motor bikes(obv a meet up/cruise of some sort), I saw a V8 Soarer(this sounded like f**king amazing), a couple of 200's and an R34 I think.

The road surface looks terrible, there are holes and ditches all over it and I have a feeling some spirited driving on those roads the car is gonna rattle into bits haha.

If anyone is keen for a drive around this place, let me know I'm fair eager to try it out.

Yeah I'm familiar with the roads your talking about.

It's a very popular spot for drivers of modified cars, whether it be turbo imports or V8 commodores etc. Their all up there regulary. However you really do need to get to know the road pretty well before you gun around their.

People write off cars up their very regulary, if you know the roads and are a good driver then fine, but otherwise be carefull. I personally know a few people who have written cars off up there, then there ones I heard about. As you say in a lot of spots the road surface is pretty average to.

But having said that it's well worth the drive up there, ther are some good roads with reasonable straights and some damn good corners, I've had heaps of fun the 2 times I've been up their. The other thing ther's one road in and out, meaning you can check if the cops are in there.

Unfortunately the gates do get shut at night, 6pm I think (or therabouts).

I used to live near there so i've done it plenty of times, the surface is improving slowly but it's pretty bad around akuna bay.

Take a GPS if you have one so you can see what sort of corners comming up, just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

Haha yeah we saw a little wallaby hopping around over there. Believe it or not I know someone who got chased by a wild pig there to haha he jumped into the river.

I'm not going to do anything stupid when I go there, I know my cars limits and I rarely push my car to those limits anyway. It just looks like a nice drive. Ill be doing this on the next dry weekend. I always keep my GPS handy when we go fishing down there as I warn the driver of sharp turns coming up.

I live around the corner so I drive that way on the way home from work every now and again.

Road surface is fine for standard suspension

Yeah I suppose it's probably OK for standard suspension, but how many people on here have standard suspension.

I certainly don't.

But like others have said don't go stupid and you'll be fine.
