I knew it was school holidays lol.

Seriously though, what fun do you get out of racing on the street? For all you know, the guy you just 'dragged off' was messing with you and only giving it quarter throttle. There are only increased e-penis gains to be had by street racing. As others have said, take it to the track. Drag strip is great fun and a good way to benchmark your car against others. Circuit is also good fun, trying to beat your times is bloody addictive!

In any case, if you actually get out there and do some of those events, you'll find street racing gets boring very quickly.

Also these days you never know if the person in the done up car your about to race is a cop, there getting around in anything these days...

And I own a commodore along with a few other cars, and I find when I drive the commodore I have more people trying to prove themselves and race me...

But anyway my opinion is with a budget of $1000 wind the boost up to around 14 - 15psi and get the nistune board and a tune... might get ya around 180 at the wheels...

15 psi should lean out your engine and write its death certificate..

R8s are pretty fast in take off with pretty big torque.

For $1000 get:

Get ebay cooler kit: $350

3inch turbo back exhaust: $400

Knock out cat: Free

Pod filter: $50

Run above on 12 psi you should have a pretty good chance of winning.

why not just go to the drags and do it the proper way?

wheres the fun in that, theres no bumps in the road, no power poles to wrap yourself around,no innocent people to run into and absolutely no possible chance of a police chase....Geez just spoil all the fun why dont ya!!

I think the limit of a totally streetable R33 GTST is actually quite cheaply had these days.... By saying so, I dont think 300rwkw is as street friendly as it could be.

My personal preference which would slaughter a basic LS1 common:

3" TBE

Cheap FMIC

Fuel pump

metal intake

Z32

hiflowed injectors

hypergear highflow OR SS-1 turbo 250rwkw aim (go for the SS-2 if you must have 300kw of lose to nearly nothing power)

Toshi remap or Nistune

shimmed diff, decent rear suspension setup

I say stop being a blouse and pick something faster to aim for. A stock LS1 is just a boat anchor and i dont know why anyone would want a Skyline being compared with one.

Why not choose a Veyron, or a Koenigsegg CCXR. Surely this sort of performance would be a lot more appealing :D

I had to laugh at this though..... clearly our laws arent doing enough and obviously do need some reform.... ie school kids should stick to a PS3 and GT5 and most certainly should not be let loose in even a stock Skyline, let alone a modified one.

"I have been on P plates for 3 years now but in less than a month I will graduate to my full license. I know the majority of people on here agree with keeping P platers out of high powered cars is a good idea and I cant say i disagree. But these laws definitley need an overhaul, it is clear that the people who came up with these laws don't know much about cars and as such, shouldn't have been put in charge."

Oh and this is absolute GOLD!!!!!

Say wha?

LS1 is more powerful than a RB25

LS1 is lighter than a RB25

LS1 will fit into more engine bays than a RB25

ujelly?

nistune

fuel pump

injectors

afm

250-300kw high flowed turbo (choose your power level, they will all cost the same)

clutch

tyres

tune

intercooler

prob set you back $5k and will make an excellent street car.

or just get the tyres and nistune and settle for 200kw, this will set you back maybe $1.5k if you get proper tyres, anything over 200kw to 300kw will cost the same as you need all the same supporting mods.

    • It only looks tidy, as most of the stuff that was on the whole back wall, is now in the trailer to go to the tip, or has been shoved in my 2.2x2.4m "Spare parts room", and now I can't get to anything in there Ha ha ha I could definitely do with a bit more space, but I'd just end up with your problems I'm going to enclose the car port beside the garage, and move a lot of stuff into it I think. OR... It will be setup as a fabrication area, and the main garage will have parts storage in it. I'm not sure yet... Need some pictures of that big shed you've got with the bikes and Skyline in
    • No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
    • Can't say I've had a bad experience with one on my car, then again it only gets washed once or twice a year... The wheels on the other hand, get a good spray often due to my shitty dusty pads.
    • @MBS206 thats pretty neat and tidy to me!  I'll get a photo of mine when I'm out there next. It might require multiple photos to understand the scale of the atrocities though... In total I have 4 sheds of varying sizes and layouts. Main shed is 14x8, second shed is 3x8, third shed is 11x2.5, fourth shed is around 6x4.  All are pretty much full.   The main goal of my cleaning tsunami is to make the main shed predominantly car and motorbikes only. Second shed is my metal fab room (2 x bench grinders, drill press, bench belt sander, metal band saw, scrap metal storage and some of my garden tools.  3rd shed is more bigger garden stuff, storage for engine crane, jack stands, concrete grinder, concrete mixer, air compressor lives there, and it now has two 2mx2m pallet racking shelves with itemised boxes holding building stuff, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, etc, etc.  The 4th shed is Ryobi electric ride on mower, mini boom sprayer, ancient Kubota tractor, more garden stuff!  I have got a lot of shit....  Then there's the pool house (8mx4m) and the pool pump shed (4mx4m).  I built all of the sheds over the 11 years we've been here.  The main shed was a Ranbuild kit, the rest are all custom made to fit the areas available. Building the main shed taught me a LOT as I had no idea about building anything prior to that!  I've still got one more in me. It will be my man cave which I poured the extra concrete for way back when I poured the concrete for the main shed. The idea is the Skyline will be a centre piece of the main cave once (if...) it's finished.  I told my now 14 year old son yesterday that I will 100% drive him to his year 10 formal in 2 years. Still a long way off but at least I now have a date to work towards! 🤣
    • Modern oils are amazing. Add tyres to that as well.
