Hi Guys/Girls,

I've just moved to Perth two months ago and am importing my R34 from NZ, hopefully through the Personal Import Scheme.

I've been reading through some of the other topics in here but haven't really found anything that answers my questions. Apart from ADR are there any other 'rules' for modified cars? In NZ we have LVVTA which give us a black and white outline on what we can and cant do to cars. My car isn't heavily modified but I was doing some circuit racing in NZ so I've upgraded the suspension, brakes, pads, bushes, camber arms etc. It still has the factory engine with a couple of add on's too, intercooler, air filter, and a few other things. I dont want the few modifications I have to stop me from being able to import.

Also, is it easier/cheaper to import the car by myself or bite the bullet and I presume pay a lot more money by going through an importer? Can anyone recommend an importer?

Do I have to get compliance on my car straight away or can I bring it over, not use it for a while and then go for compliance?

I really appreciate any help I can get, I understand it would be easier to ring around but I'm working long hours now and places over here are only open from 8.30 to 5pm lol.

I cant give any advice on Perth but contact the governing body in Perth for the correct answers. Asking the net will get you a number of different replies which may cause more confusion.

As for importing the car.... Try calling a freight forwarder here in Oz called UTI, they should be able to help you out with importing it

yep, driftt is the one to talk to. knows importing and local to perth. the basic mods you describe wont be any hurdle. and yes you can import it and not register it for as long as you want.
