I'm currently looking at getting myself a M35, and cruise is somthing i'm after. I see there is a aftermarkit cruise kit, that has almost factory controls. Is there any real difference in performance (keeping correct speed, going and and down hills etc) between that and the factory one? I know the factory one has radar, but I see that as more of a gimmic than somthing i'd use.

Chris Rogers does a pretty slick aftermarket one, using factory controls; not cheap, but nothing good ever is... Check him out for details.

The biggest issue with the factory cruise, as I understand it; will only engage up to 112-113 km/h. No more.

When you factor in speedo error on the NM35 of around 10%; you won't even be able to keep with traffic on the freeway...

That's only factory right? No issues with aftermarket units like that?

speed limit on the factory one would be a pita, considering i'd sit it on 115 on the highway (after i know the accuracy of the speedo).

I think the chris rogers one was the one i saw. $700, and the controls look like genuine nissan ones.

No, I'm sure it's only the factory one.

The speeedo in the NM35 has more error than I've ever experienced in a car before. Easily corrected with changes to rolling Dia. when you upgrade wheels; the OEM gear is much too small to fill the guards properly..

Yep, that sounds like it. That's the one I want, once I stop wasting money doing other stuff.:whistling:

I've been working for ages on getting some cruise controls in for a group buy. Just trying to get a guy to give me an address in China to have them sent to & then on forwarded to me (long story).

Meanwhile, I have my local Nissan guy getting the 2 switch panels for the steering wheel so I can start putting that in in preparation for the cruise arrival. Was expecting to put up an EOI thread any day now, but there always seems to be a delay :ermm: . Here's probably as good as spot as any.

Anyway, these ones come with a stalk control if you've got an aftermarket wheel or just want cruise for the cheapest possible price. Cost won't be anymore than $400 delivered, plus the cost of the switch panels if you want them (about $70).

I'd buy the ones from Chris but I want 3 so it adds up to a fair bit. But when i started searching they cost $900 installed & I don't think there was a DIY option. That's what got me motivated.

I too have tried a cheaper unit from IM (~$350) but was so crap I've half installed it in my X-trail & given up lol.

The beauty of having an M35 is the cruise only has 4 connections to wire into: batt, earth, CAN Hi & Lo. There's an accelerator harness to plug in & the stalk/switches plug in also & you're off & cruising. No hunting for brake, speed, tacho, neutral/clutch wires etc.

So for $470 you'd end up with the same thing as the $700 kit?

Essentially yes. The brand of cruise control (ie the brain box) will be different, but in the end the operation & will be the same.

Ryan, I do remember your deadline and I'm pulling strings like a learner puppeteer .

I can safely say i purchaced one off chris's and his gear is the ultimate. Id gladly pay the 300 more and have someone talk me through the install over the phone in an hour. Also the pad controls just fit onto the factory screw holes no mods needed. No disrespect to commsman. And the cruise just works at any speed above 40kms on the dash wich is really like 30kms lol. All up to personal preference but i think a third stalk would look average in a classy interior. Again no disrespect.

Clint, I think you misread.

Leons kit will come with the factory buttons, but if your wheel cant fit the factory buttons for whatever reason you can use the third stalk.

I wouldnt even be considering it if it had a third stalk. I want a neat solution!

Yep, what those guys ^^ said. Comes with these.

The stalk is just for those without factory wheel.

so it only works with the bose unit?

Actually it depends on what aftermaket head unit you have. I've seen in the menu of mine that it can be "trained" to work with most wheel mounted buttons. You wire the contacts to the unit then tell it what function they do.

It would be an easy connection to the Bose factory unit however. Not sure about other OEM stereos.
