Hi all

I'm trying to work out the best way to go in terms of alarms/immobilisers for my RS4S Stagea. Im looking at either the Viper 5701 or the Cyclops P775b, and am not sure which way to go. The Viper seems to have more features, but I've also read some reviews saying that the buttons are easily pressed in your pocket which can result in the car unlocking or starting (it has remote start) accidentally, and the batteries in the remote only last a couple of months. If anyone has any experience they can with either of these alarms that would be awesome, and any other thoughts are more than welcome!

Thanks

Tim

I'm also interested in what people have to say on car security, i'm sure the topic has been covered before but with new idea's and more people getting alarms i'd like to hear people's opinions. I'll also point out to everyone that he is asking for advise regarding these alarms, not weather you think there are better security methods like tying a dog to your car on have camera's watching it. Although, in saying that, i'l like to hear some other good security methods too. I just notice a lot of these discussions get whored and off topic. Cheers.

the viper alarm batteries are AAA batteries if its the transponder remote and last a month tops . the other remotes battery last about 3-6 months .. but in the future your smart phone will be your remote , already available in USA and being tested elsewhere.

remote start is instant major ADR defect , retarded I know but I dont make the rules and if you read below you void your warranty if you buy from anyone not authorized to sell and install it. ?? direct electronics has great support they make Viper, Clifford, Python, Hornet. etc

Cyclops I've never had good luck with IMO

but your alarm must comply with the ADR guidelines for insurance imobilzer points to cover your car in most cases

Both alarms are being bought from authorised sellers and installers. Good to know about the remote start, sounds like I'll give that one a miss. The other Viper one listed on the stores info is the 460v, but I can't find anything online about that one?

look in the UK. that is the intended market for that one. I used to use those in a fair few cars. they are not a cheap alarm and they DEFINITELY require a pro to fit it.

Just had another look and found a little bit of info, but still not a lot. Sounds like it's an older system? The quote I've got is $899 fitted, and the guy who would be fitting it is a mate who works at Autobarn as an installer and also drives a stag so knows his way around the car.
