Tyre Pressue

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just need some help with the amount of psi i should put in my R33 Gts-t....Its basically stock apart from exhaust and pod and running at normal boost.

I was just wondering whats an appropiate psi for just normal daily driving with the organisal thrashings?

Would it be different for my front and back tyres?

Thanks in Advance

Cheers

It depends on the size/profile/brand of the tyre.

If it's close to stock, I'd say that you still have the stock rims ??

If you do, I think the stock size is 225/50/16's, or the smaller 205/55/16's.

Sooo, for normal city driving I use (I have 225/50/16's) around 38psi fronts and backs. If you find that the centre of the tyre is wearing a bit quicker than the outsides then drop the psi down to 36ish.

But if you have 18's with 35 profile rubber, then you might want to run around 40psi.

I always ask the tyre place what pressure to run in the tyres as it also depends on the brand etc...

Generally run the front tyres about 2 psi higher than the rears - helps reduce understeer.

I think 38 is going a bit overboard, mayge 36 front, 34 rear. (that's cold pressure)

36 always caused uneven wear in the pulsar (205/50/15) so i use 32 i think.

thought i'd try 30psi in the skyline and see how the tyre wear went, and then adjust it from there.

Running 255/40/17 Falken Ziex (yes I know theyre shit :P ) and was told to inflate to 40PSI. Im trying to kill the things so I can justify buying new good tyres, but they just dont seem to wear at all :P

Not for me theyre not, I seem to suffer from severe traction issues in them  theyre a massive step down for the Yokohama AVS Sport's and Toyo Trampio's that were on the car, but I needed tyres then and there and thats all I could get in my size

    • so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track.   had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car. • I think I will try out Frenchy’s power steering kit. Looks like a better solution.
    • Useless lot aren't they? Releasing stuff on the market that doesn't do what it's supposed to do without you stuffing about with it and spacing out the spacer lol. FFS.
    • Similar experience with Ross pulley. Can't recommend.
    • Hey guys I’m putting my 180sx wiring loom back into my car and I’ve run the interior harness out I’ve noticed that on the passengers a pillar there seems to be a section of holes where zip ties would go as if to run a thin 4 wire harness to the roof I’ve searched through all of my stuff to try and find this harness but I can’t seem to find anything. I’m just wondering what the passengers side a pillar( on the windscreen) harness/wiring is actually for as I have already wired up my interior lights cheers
