I'm with UWISSH...

I had custom mufflers built to suit my car (2 of them) plus a high flow cat, and full piping from the turbo back.

Cost was $1300, and the TIGHTEST and CLEANEST exhaust you'd ever find, (3" mandrel bent).

And the even better thing? Even on the big motor, because we designed the mufflers for it, the car had a very nice note, but was not noisy at all!

Ive had a couple of exhausts done from Windsor exhaust in Richmond and they are hard to beat for price and they are super honest and their work produces nice numbers.

Had a full 3'' custom exhaust for my GT4 celica done for $1000 sounded nice too!!

Don't buy either, get on eBay and by Japanese which are ready made for your skyline already and will be cheaper and more effective than anything offered in Australia unless you need a 4" custom system.

Unless you want a 3" catback for a V8 L series motor, don't go anywhere near 'X-farce'.

Note: Apexi make a manual valve system similar to what you would get from the Varex muffler only much much cheaper, if your only looking to use it once or twice to keep the cops at bay.

The apexi thing sounds interesting. I'll have a look into it.

I wanted the valve mufler because I like a nice, loud exhaust, but my girlfriend won't stop complaining about it if I get the last one I got (which I loved).

Can't really find good second hand ones, either.

x2. The price of second hand exhausts on here and even ebay is ridiculous. Save your money, and buy other stuff with it!

I need a new cat, and I figured, "eh, why not fork out a little extra and get a new catback". Then I thought I might get headers.. I'd be interested to hear the sound of the car after installing them.

Mate, Had a full exhaust done for my old car NA V6 Holden Vectra (was on P's, first car) closedeyes.gif

Got it done at Castle Hill Exhaust, guy that works there is Jack i believe. He fitted the exhaust first thing on a sat morn for me, price was good at late notice as another exhaust shop fitted wrong exhaust size even though i said 2.25inch so he ripped that off and fitted a new custom one with a muffler i supplied.

He rang me while i was walking around the closest shopping area well before i was due to come back to say it had been done, thought the service help and approachability was really good! he fitted me in very late notice i.e. morning after i called.

Also however a big fan of what was said UP ABOVE. $1450 is shit loads for a NA exhaust. I'm cranky about paying $950 HKS high power exhaust cat back for my R32 GTR (fitment will be free for me cheers.gif) also trying to source one from Japan cheaper or second hand one of here for cheaper also.

Personally, when you get a turbo (if ur on P's or aspiring to buy one) save the money for that. Awesome having a new exhaust but downer when u go to sell and look at your lovely exhaust driving away.

my 2 cents. Best of luck mate with new exhaust!! post some pics when u get it done!

Hey JD,

CHE are good in the sense that I dropped my liner off there at 9, picked it up 5pm, it had been sitting there for like.. half the day.

The thing that annoyed me was that even though the exhaust was tucked up perfectly, he didn't install the O2 sensor after the cat, and if he did, it would stick down and hit the ground on the next pot hole.

Ive had a couple of exhausts done from Windsor exhaust in Richmond and they are hard to beat for price and they are super honest and their work produces nice numbers.

Had a full 3'' custom exhaust for my GT4 celica done for $1000 sounded nice too!!

Might give them a call when the tax cheque comes in.

Okay, so I've got a quote for a full exhaust system with an xforce vertex adjustable muffler from these two companies...

Castle Hill Exhaust: $1450

Liverpool Exhaust: $1850

Liverpool exhaust seemed a little more flexible with their price, though.

Regardless, Liverpool put up a good front; explained the exhaust I would be getting, all aussie parts where available, custom-made, mandrel bent piping etc.

CHE seem a lot more in-out-done.. but in a good way.

Anyone had any experiences with either?

liverpool exhaust did my 3" turbo back mandrel exhaust with x force muffler about 7 years ago for $1000. surely the adj muffler isnt worth $850. Is the quote you got for stainless steel or mild steel?? The high flow cat has already been replaced, so too the xforce cannon muffler due to corrosion. Liverpool exhaust seem ok when your there asking for a quote, different story though when i went to get it fitted and wanted to hang around and wait and watch.

maybe they are owned by different people now, but my experience with them wasnt all that great.

by the way, doesnt matter if the exhaust can have its sound reduced, it can still be defected even if it is at its quiet setting. rta guidelines clearly stipulate this.
