Time Attack 2012

Hi guys.

Just something I've been thinking about, I couldnt really squeeze time off this time round to go to superlap this year. could have but family business, its in my own interest to knuclke down and make mullah.

So, next year I'm planning to go. But rather than just fly up and watch, I think I'll organise a trailer and tow my car up and have a crack. Would be a fantastic experience.

obvioulsy I'll be putting some more work, time and money into the car but the aim is to go up, have fun and hopefully come back in one piece. would be a great learning experience, still get to see some of the worlds fastest cars in action and get to steer at EC.

would either enter street tyre class or Open (semi's)

probably going to have a spend min 5k between now and then, but thats fine.

and without the car itself, fuel in the tow car, accommodation etc and meals and entry plus ferry, i'd guess 3-4k. thats allowing 1k for fuel 2k for ferry.

I have family in syd, not too far away, maybe 45 minutes from EC, plus I think I can nab myself a trailer for nix.

so if anyone was thinking of having ago and would be keen on a roadtrip, something to think about anyways.

HSCC are working towards hopefully running Tasmania's first time attack event either later this year or early 2012.

Discussions have been underway for a little while as to the best event format for the first event.

If it all ends up going ahead as planned you will all have plenty of notice :).

I was about to say, we should have our own Time attack here in Tassie! With Black jack! and hookers!

Every driver that has a fit Mrs, sister or mother has to submit them as promo girls that can walk around. All the not so attractive ones can just go be flag marshals.

Two Classes, Street and Open.

Streets have to be road legal and registered, can't go faster than 63?

Open is what ever. Need a cage and all that fun stuff.

Sounds great, exactly what the tas motorsport scene needs. I'm sure it will be very popular, I'm keen!

Don't get me wrong, i think 'timeattack' is good will get more people in. I have wondered why one of the clubs didn't rename their supersprints to timeattack to entice more young people.

marketing marketing marketing! tis important.

I think it will take off, its something that seems to be growing well world wide. And I think because it will put all different types of cars in the mix, it will be healthy for the local motorpsort scene.

it shouldnt be as hard on cars or equipment as drifting and should be less than super series I guess.

I do hope it takes off, would be great to see half a dozen or so events held each year. combine that with the hill climbs, drifting and super series etc bit going on.
