I was talking to a bloke about this today and was thinking about getting the drifter re tuned for e85 but not sure if its worth it. currently only making 240rwhp on the rb20 with vg30 turbo on 15psi, all the usual bolt on mods but internally stock, stock afm and injectors, i am how ever running an intank 040 and an 044 with a surge. what kind of gains can i expect power wise changing from bp98 to e85 with the car exactly how it currently is?

Im at a cross roads now :ermm: ive been told that i will need 1000cc injectors for 270rwkw on E85! couple of lads in here claim to be running 550cc injectors and both are making over 300rwkw on E85

if i went for 1000cc injectors would i have to change my fuel rail too? I was told you use approximately 30% more E85 than 98.......:O

30% is pretty right. The tuning style also has a lot to do with what size injectors will be required. Running it lean with less timing will obviously mean you can get away with smaller injectors. Tuning rich with more timing obviously means larger injectors will be required.

They must be running them pretty lean to make 300rwkw on 550's

I was told today that my 550's will be ok for 270rwkw on E85 but they will be pretty clos to being at their limit by a nice gentleman from JEM so im gunna take his advice and bolt em in when my turbo comes

damn some people must be tuning lean.... each to their own and everyone has a different philosophy though

Although i realise its a fair whack more power, my 1600's are at 90% at 460odd. That wil change soon though as the ID 1600's have been recalled so its up to 2000cc's :D

I am fairly sure the 2000's will have similar issues, especially on ethanol, as they are both natural gas injectors from what I'm told. The o-ring isn't rated for petrol (long term) and won't be warranted, especially with e85. If this is true the 1000's may be the only Bosch option.

I also have reservations on the spray pattern with the 2000's as the jellybean plate after the nozzle is designed to desperse the natural gas, not sure how it will work at high liquid fuel flow. Has anyone seen a video of the spray patterns on these injectors?

I'm doing a upgrade on my car I'm getting 2000 cc injectors .....haltec pro series ecu ..........and I have a.t88 on my gtr but I'm going a bit bigger I was thinking t 51r turbo my car.makes 700 HP at all wheels I want more power :-(

My car is not tuned lean with 555 to make 300 kw , its a very safe tune. But yeah in the end comes down to how the specific tuner tunes if he dorsnt believe he can get away with 555 then gota do whats hes confortable with.

What kinda turbo and boost are you running mate?

Ive gotta HKS 2835 kai coming and im hoping to push bout 16-18psi down my cars neck.

A guy off here who has the same turbo is only hitting 67% duty cycle on his 550's with 18psi boost

Im running a hypergear tr43i (the really really old model) I guess comparing it to power terms of a garett would be closet to a 3071. Im running 17.5 psi.

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
