Hi Guys,

Just thought I would post up my experience with Award Diff and Gearbox, which was recommended to me by other SAU'ers

I have just had my ECR33 there this week having the gearbox reconditioned as it was crunching badly at high revs.

The guys there are consummate professionals and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Terry took the time to explain the problem and and give me options in terms of the solution. Trish kept me informed throughout the week about what was happening with the car. This is a welcome change to the usual mechanic treatment.

The price was good and the service was impeccable.

I haven't put any real miles on the gearbox yet but I'm confident there will be no issues.

As a rule I really dislike taking my car anywhere to get work done, but I would absolutely recommend these guys if you need any gearbox/diff work done.

Cheers

Chris

Terry and Trish are absolute legends. I have used them for the last 5 years and i will definitely go back again and again

I had an OS gearset put into my RB25 box a few years back. IIRC it was just after Christmas that it all went back together and the car wouldnt get gears. Terry told me to call him if there were any issues so i rang his mobile. He came down to the workshop to check it out for me and found that the reverse light switch had jammed which causes it not to get gears. We couldnt get the switch out while the box was in the car so I removed the box and took it back to his shop where he stripped it down and freed up the switch. It was all part of the service :D

Only recently bought a second diff for the 200 and the original one had had the limo slip centre rebuilt by Terry. It got a bit niosy after numerous WSID races so i asked him to insepct it. Not a worry. He could have told me it needed bearings and what not but sent it back to me with an all clear and that the noise was simply the crown wheel and pinion. He could have lapped it for me but it was a waste of time and it probably wouldnt have fixed the noise anyway. They even picked the diff up from my house and only asked for a case of beer as payment given there was very little word carried out.

They are one of the few genuine people in the industry

have to agree Terry was great to me also, I rang him from perth after the recommendation from Ottomotto, when I was having trouble with an OS front diff, and he took time out on several occasions to help me out and I have never actually bought anything off him

what did they do to the gearbox and how much did it cost ya approx?

looking at getting mine reco'd or perhaps a 2nd hand box.. just weighing up costs.

The work I had done was roughly the same as the going rate for a second hand box.

Really good value considering that it was a drive-in-drive-out proposition, and the fact that a second hand box could be rooted already.

Hey my synchros look like there needing to be replaced. How much roughly did you pay and what was the initial problem?

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
