Is it possible to post up for sale items and set out the following:

I provide pics, a immediate sale price, and a reserve price and an end date. People then offer bids for the item (obviously higer than the bid price). At the end of the date specified, I sell the item to the person with the highest bid. Of course if sumone offers the immediate sale price, then the item is sold immediately and the thread closed.

People can post up questions on the item as well.

What do you guys reckon?

this might put pressure on sau, who do not want to be responsible for items/cash.

would be similar to ebay.com/sold.com.au etc? may become quite complicated.

is it worth it?

how's it any different to just selling an item... all it is is a different way for people to agree on a price to pay for an item... at the end of the day, the person is still selling the same old thing and the buyer is buying just as he usually does. Coming to the price agreement on the other hand is what this is all about.

It dosen't make SAU any more liable than it is right now for people buying and selling over the For Sale section. It dosen't require any modifications to the forum, nor does it need a new section.

head over to OCAU's for sale section... you'll see what I mean. Its very organised and orderly.

Its not like ebay, coz nothing is hidden. The reserve price, the quick sale price and the bids are all out in the open. Its jsut a bit more organised than a guy selling something, then someone else going, i'll give you 50 bux for it and sumone else goin i'll give you 60 bux for it.

Its actually better, coz people can't gve no price and rely on people to come up with figures for em, and if they get a shitty figure they can't whinge about it coz people already will know how much the seller wants for it as a minimum.

ok, that sounds good.

one more thing - would the seller be locked in? like if he/she were to get an outside offer which was better. i guess this will only apply to parts and misc. stuff... not whole cars.

well usually on OCAU, there' no such thing as last minute sneak bids, and if there's fierce bidding towards the end the auction goes on tiill someone backs out.

The seller is not obligated to sell to the highest bidder, he can sell it outside, he needs to give the bidders a bit of notice tho, or state clearly at the start if he will finish the bidding early if someone offers him a deal outside of the bidding (which encourages bidders to put their best bid in first so the seller dosen't sell outside).

    • Impossible to remove the housing while turbo is installed on the manifold on the engine. So I have to do it anyways. I plugged it so there will not be any debris in there. Will vacuum aswell
    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
