Broken fuel tank.

I drive an R33 S1 GTS-25T. The part of the fuel tank that the petrol filler cap screws on to has come completely off. Basically, you can see directly down the neck of the petrol tank. Can this part be reattached or will I need to buy a whole new fuel tank?

used a bit of poly to stick it back down

seems fine its been almost a year now

polyurethene

mechanics use it alot to as an extra seal around gaskets n stuff like that

its sort of like a sealer that you would use around the house - eg: silicone

Where can you buy it and how do you apply it? And how much can I expect it to set me back?

The reason it fell off is because they change it when the car gets Australian compliance. Dodgy job.

I'm not sure if its the same stuff as HK....the filler is something added locally to comply the test. Its prevent the fuel station to fill work fuel ino your tank. My gone too, u don't hv to do anything for it...

Yeah, they are only stuck on during compliance, and some shops are known to do dodgy jobs. Iv'e heard people with similar probs.

Best would be just some strong strength glue or adhesive that is of course petrol tollerant. Silastic gunk would probably do the trick (bunnings). There is also the stuff that is labelled as "petrol tank repair" which is a sort of putty which you can knead and dries to a solid seal.
