Hi,

My mate and I installed a head unit today, according to the wiring diagram on SAU. Everything works ok, however, everytime i turn the ignition off and on, the stereo remains off. When i turn it on, all the settings are lost and the cd plays from the first song again.

Can somebody tell me if they would be to do with the wiring or the head unit?

How can i solve this?

Cheers.

you've probably got the Accessory wire going into the positive terminal...

you have 3 terminals...

accessory, positive and negative. Both positive and negative need to be constant (so the stereo can retain your settings etc) the accessory is what tells your stereo to turn the display on and play the song etc.

If you get the accessory in the positive, the stereo will ONLY get power when you turn the key. (Just like if you put the positive in the accesory terminal, it'll always think your car is turned on, but because the power to the positive terminal is on and off, it'll only turn on when you turn the car)

If you are confused turn around 3 times, step left then right and scream abuse.

u probably have ur antenna to the accessories wire or something so its always getting power.

there should be a constant 12V that goes to ur headunit always, this is ur memory thats whats stuffing up

the power wire is actually the accessories wire, it only has 12V when the cars on.

Use a multimeter to check these if ur unsure of which is which with the metal sorrunds as ground.

U must have the wiring wrong...if its an aftermarket headunit then these are usually the colours

Yellow..goes to battery power to hold memory

Red... goes to accesories to switch it off and on

Black to chassis

The antenna doesnt get triggered from the radio when u listen to a cd cause theres no need for the ant to be up...its controlled inside the headunit....

My theory for this reason is that when u wanna push ur car and go fast u listen to a cd so it goes down...this way it will stop the antenna from bending and snaping in half when ur doin 200km per hour..haha
