This would have to be one of the most stupid thing I've heard in a long time!!

Pre programmed specs for cars?? What about modifications to cars? Pre programmed specs would be for stock cars only!!

I sure hope this idea never goes ahead.

Make sure you show this guy this thread so he can see what the average car-enthusist thinks of his idea.

Bah - bunch of doubters.

This is just like the way that stupid horse-riding game at Barcode was designed to stop the illegal midnight horse races in Sunshine. When was the last time you saw one of those on Today Tonight?

Power to them I say. From all accounts it sounds like it will be a real drag.

Har har.

Take my wife, please. I'm here all week folks.

James it's lucky the Comedy Festival is on, where are you booked this week?????

" The environment would include bars, cafes and restaurants "

You cant even light a smoke in these places anymore let alone have the exhaust fumes from two cars at full throttle poisonong the place. And you reckon a night club is loud, how do you reckon two modified rotors at full noise would be like.

I think its just bullshit to be honest. The outlay for something like this would be astronomical. Not to mention what the public liability cover would be every year. And if they were actually serious about doing this and they had a brain they would do a potential market reasearch which would involve looking at places like this where they would find out we are not very interested.

Both make good points but there are still 2 factors missing, does the simulator provide FEELING and ADRENALIN to the driver / owner?

All of the fun is in the driving / dragging - a mad rush in my experience, what about that? IMO the adrenalin is what makes people want to do it whether legally or otherwise. Some of it is down to competition or EGO but there is still adrenalin involved

wheres the fun?

that would be plain boring

i mean u got so many variables in drag racing

temp, tyres, driver reaction/concentration, head/tail wind etc etc

i would rather put a push bike on a dyno that put my car on that peice of crap (if its even real?)

and

I raised the question on variables, which he said the simulator takes these into account & adjusts itself accordindly. BUt you raise a good point on Temps... the wind factor might be controlled by the simulator.

I asked what the cost would be per run, and that hasn't been confirmed. Considering the time involved to setup a car on a dyno how cost effective would this be compared to real drag racing, he said the simulators has pre-programmed specs so you'd type the car model in, and the simulator adjust itself, you drive up onto the ramp, then the simulator automatically clamps the car in...

How comparable the times would be to say real drag racing is debateable, but i'm not sure that's its main purpose, and might be just a fun thing more than anything. A point he raised was the police argument on how this could help reduced the impact on illegal street racing??

all this sounded a little beyond belief, but who knows, we might have to wait & see??

HeHe, sounds easy. Has anyone seen a red gsx1340 turbo/nitro go down the strip all the way on the back wheel? Thats mine!! Reg no TURB.0 .................

Now i can take my helmet off and suck a few cool ones while someone straps the bike down and starts it for me!!!!! HOW EXCITING!!!! HOPE I DONT FALL OFF HA HA :(

    • Hi guys, I’m new to the GTR scene. Picked up an R33 GTR earlier this year that needs a lot of love. I’ve been going through the hot side, changing all the gaskets and while it was all off I managed to score a set of -9s. It still had the stock ceramics so I was pretty happy to get the 2860s.  I live in a small country in the pacific with 0 performance car scene. No dyno’s no performance parts, let alone stock parts for a skyline. I order everything from Australia and do it myself. This means I’ll be running the stock ECU. Maybe down the track I’ll get an aftermarket set up and do a remote tune.  Will the car run -9s on stock tune safely?  I have a very heavy foot so I really hope so 😂   thanks guys
    • perfect, no rush to address the leaking bush then, it's not doing much/anything
    • I'm not sure if it will bolt up, but.... I'm reasonably sure that the ID of the runners is somewhat smaller on the NAs. So it probably wouldn't be a good match at the flange where the top and bottom meet. So that would be a reason to not do it. And the skinny runners would be the bit you're keeping, which would be a reason to no do it. You'd want the big runners if you were doing any work to swap stuff. Why not just use what you've got, like nearly everyone else who has +T'd an NA? You don't need or want the TCS throttle or other stuff that is specifically DET inlet/crossover.
    • lol already been put in temporarily 3 years ago
    • Makes sense. For actuators, if the pressure itself isn't adjustable, that would mean I'd need to think about 2 different actuators with 2 different pressures on paper in order for them to work at the same time if the turbos behave differently. So measure the difference in psi needed to move both, and then get an actuator to match that difference. Assuming I cant get rid of it by adjusting the arms.  You're exactly right, never happens in gear 1 or 2. I can occasionally get it in gear 3 if going uphill but its very small. Only ever in 4 and 5. Seems kind of backwards that one of the points of VCAM is faster spool but if it introduces shuffle then it actually slows spool down.
