Hey guys just picked up my next project. It's an r32 gtst with no motor or gearbox. It's was rb20de auto. Just want some ideas/opinions on what motor and box to run. Pretty sure I'm gonna just get a 33 front cut. Any suggestions? And also I'm gettting it painted next week. I'm thinking just go black but give me some more ideas and pics too that would be awesome. Any help would be sweet cheers

I want a tuff streeter but still be competitive on a track. So I'm heading towards rb25. I went out to a wrecker today and found myself an r33 front cut for $3500. I want to make roughly 300+kw.. Any other suggestions? And what colour

I don't really have much of a budget. Maybe $3000 for motor and box. Is there any difference between s1 and s2 rb25det's?? And how about wiring a 25 into the r32? I heard the gearbox is pretty straight forward but need to mod the speedo cable to suit the r32 mechanical speedo. Just really wanted to know the best and safest way to make 300+ from

a 25. And whether an rb26 would be worth considering... I've built two silvias so I'd love to hear some experience on skylines.

well dont even think about making 300kw with an R33 RB25DET without rebuilding it, AFAIK it wont last long.

a NEO may be able to hold that power for some time unopened.

if you do a search for your other questions, you will find quite concise answers.

good luck.

ok, few answers for you.

1: bugger all difference between s1 and s2 motors other than electrics.

2: yeah need to do a little bit of adapting to get the speedo to work. i think you can use a vl speedo sender, or is it a navara one? but yeah, just search it. plenty of info on it.

3: 300kw is the upper limit of the stock engine with any sort of reliability, although you can make more power but it becomes a time bomb. my suggestion would be a 25/30 for that sort of power.

4: for what it would cost you to buy a 26 and a 25 gearbox, etc, you could do the 25 conversion and mods (or 25/30 built) to be making more power than the 26.

    • Another question sorry, what stainless do u use in the turbo external WG plumb back piping? Is it 321, 316 or 304?
    • Right, its been a while for updating this car, but I made some small but important progress today. In the end I bought an Ecutek dongle from the Australian distributor Tunehouse (for local hardware support) but have gone with a remote tune from Racebox in the US (because they have done millions of these, and I could not find any tuner where I could access the tune anyway as they are all password locked). The App is reasonably easy to work with, but the PC software reminds me of Haltech's ECU Manager that you need to use with the Plat Pro ECUs, it is a nightmare.  Anyway, I sent the details over, got back a tune file and a request for data logs. I finally got a chance to access a private test track today as they want redline logs in 3rd and 4th, and have sent them back for the first round of reviews. The main difference in the tune is going from 1.0 (stock) to 1.3 bar (19psi), although I'm sure is a lot of other stuff in the background. Keeping in mind this is a dead stock car with 125,000klm, this is what the App's performance test claimed: Before After Interesting to note that both 400m tests had the same terminal speed (158klm/h) but different ETs. And no, the speed limiter seems to be higher than that at 186kl/h. Summary of the key logged parameters for the 3rd and 4th gear runs were: Those little turbos were certainly whizzing at 200,000rpm+.  Also I'm really not that excited about oil pressure 55psi at redline so I think I'll go thicker than 5w30 (nissan recommend 0w20....) and see if that improves it. Other than that (and the big boost spike....) everything looks good as a start to me.
    • Just one more post to show the final result and the original "janky" solution for a laugh. Everything feels really tight and no wobbling at all, very pleased 🙂
