The shift times are only half affected by the valve body, the auto controller is very slow in sending the signal to the VB and sends a ramped voltage, especially to the lock up clutch. Opening the valve body does make it quicker and firmer once the voltage is there and allows more pressure to be run if needed but it wont make the shifts instant when you hit the switch.

I don't think mine has that much of a pressure increase from stock as the extra clutches allow sufficient torque transfer at the moment.

I went for a ride in Aarons, but didn't get to drive. It felt a lot better than mine, but I'd imagine it'd feel even better when you're driving.

I'd be interested to see how the Trans Go version compares to the RVO version Aaron has. I think the RVO one was cheaper too wasn't it?

From memory it will be about the same price depending on how much I get the Kit's for and depending on what deal you get from RVO.....I nearly did the RVO but I changed my mind as I preferred the Transgo spec!

Either kit is fine though....Aaron and Jethro are quite happy with theres and they are putting out good numbers.

the only comparison I have is with scotss. but his is a built box, so its very different.

If Aarons kit is just upping the pressure I would assume that could limit the life and reliability of the trans, unless the pressure hasn't been lifted too much but then it might not get the desired results. Its definitely better to go a modified valve body than just upping the line pressure. From what I know thumbsup.gif

a shift kit isnt just upping the pressure. its a shift kit.

Rvo make their own kit with a spinning lathe and other tools. which is why its alot cheaper than the transgo

this.

people will prefer trango for the name, and back up they get from the public. If i didnt find RVO(and didnt wanna be a test mule) I would have gotten a transgo kit.

but as said, Jethro and myself are happy with the RVO kit.

How much cheaper?

can you tell us what RVO do to make the shift kit work....and I'm not being a smart arse.

guy's below is a short read for you....just so that you know why the shift kit is important when you do start winding up the power......no pun intended with the Transgo site either!

ill give em a call and find out exactly what they do.

but when i was looking for transgo shiftkit installs at the time I was doing it, the cheapest quote i got was something like $850 where as RVO virtually halved the price so yeh give me ten minutes lol

I know what you are talking about with the pricing....I got quoted a supply and fit for the Transgo from my gearbox place of $850.

Kit in Australia(And he has dropped his price $150 from last weekdry.gif) : http://www.ebay.com....c#ht_2769wt_907

Kit out of the US: http://www.ebay.com....b#ht_1336wt_907

Whats the diff between the US one and the one from your OP? Why is there a price difference (not having a go - just curious)

You spending cash for no reason again Aaron?

if i keep the car. might as well

there is no difference, which is his point lol

i thought we were talking about this.

Hmmm, let me see. $320 or thereabouts for a transgo kit delivered from the US- takes about a week to WA.

Or $650 for a transgo kit delivered from over east- takes about a week and a half usually....

So, save myself over $300 and get it quicker? Decisions decisions....

Story of our lives. When I converted my arx to a normal stereo after the bose stuffed up, I needed a standalone AC controller board. $550ish from Nissan here- and they'd have to order it in. OR less than $200 delivered from a dealer in the US and it arrived within a week. Unfortunately companies set their prices per country according to sales volume- we simply don't have the volume here to compete price-wise with internet sales from the US.

Jethro can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think is point was why is there a price difference between the US ebay one and the one in the OP. There's probably a very good reason for this that I have no idea about... something missing no doubt.

    • Hmmm. that's a tough one. There's a lot of history bundled up in that lot. Perhaps instead we can create a new pinned thread, called "Legacy Pinned Threads" and provide links to the these ones that will be unpinned in there. And maybe put the names of the pinned threads that are linked inside in the tags so they can seen from the outside? Or something like? I mean, it's half a step back towards having a more complicated forum structure, without actually having it. But there's a reason that heirarchical architectures exist. They are logical, and if executed properly, make it easy to find something without having any upfront knowledge of where it would be , and without using a search function.
    • Can we unpin a bunch of dead / irrelevant threads from: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/forum/8-engines-forced-induction/ New players at home will scroll and think this forum is dead.
    • It's all about selling non-compliant emmisions stuff, and things like tuning stuff that makes your car have more emmisions, a very small percentage of modifications and tuning go into race cars, the vast majority of tuning and mods, like catless exhausts, or non-compliant cats, go into street cars with registration  Like a gun shop can only sell to someone with a gun licence, if they don't, they are fined and even jailed, and whilst a gun is totally different to a tune, or a catless exhaust, they are still illegal for a street car As for customers, it easy, they send a letter and tell them to show up for an inspection, like if someone says your car is to loud now, if they don't show up for the test, they can cancel rego, just like not paying a traffic fine This has been happening for years overseas in other countries  I'm in no way happy about it, but, I think there is definitely writing on the wall for modern cars with emissions standards, which will effect tuning shops, parts suppliers and end users And like other countries around the world, it is the government's that makes the rules and regulations for street cars with rego What would happen to a tuner or workshop if they were investigated about turning off stuff in a ECU IRT emmisions stuff like engine check lights for cats, or removing cats, or putting in a lower cell cat, this is apparently all illegal IAW modifications to registered cars, or, retuning the car so that with even stock emmision stuff still installed, but due to the tuning, or parts, like bigger cam shafts, it will now not pass the emmisions test Yes, I am going into a rabbit hole, but going off what other countries are doing IRT everything related to emmisions........cars, trucks, manufacturing, mining, modified vehicles are a easy target Meh, time will tell how it goes either way

    • Just wanted to share the recent dyno results on my car. 20lbs of boost on pump gas. Pulled the fuse on the AWD so it was only rear wheels on the dyno. It made 484 hp at the wheels. I asked the tuner to see if we could do something so it breaks the 500hp level, but he said that we were maxxed out on pump gas. If i wanted to make more power, id have to go to E85.      8739a97a-9408-4eeb-b769-108ff1678736.mp4
