I wonder how a carbon bonnet would look in comparison to yours after the same impact.

I've been considering one for a while now but don't like to raw look of them on a black car.

And most I've seen painted black have ripples in them from the sun.

$500 for that one is awesome, and would look hot painted silver too.

Check your premium won't go up if you decide to go through insurance.

Even though it was a deer and not your fault insurance companies may assume you were speeding.

You know how they choose to analyse to their advantage.

$800 excess isn't worth it anyway for just a bonnet and radiator.

And if you change insurance companies within the next 3 years you'll have to declare the claim.

Furthermore if you have a non ADR bonnet and have another accident, they may decline the claim based on road worthiness.

Damn you and your cold logic Conan!

if i can get it done for less or near 800 without claiming i sure will, could go up by 20 bucks a month or more next year with the claim, as you say, deer or not :( mate at work said getting the radiator fixed could cost a few G's so bit worried about that is all.

wont know anything for sure till monday..luckily theres about a dozen panel beaters to choose from down the road in Alexandria..

I got quoted 350 for a new radiator and they easy as to change over if you can do it yourself.

I just replaced my whole cooling system today( alloy rad, thermostat and hoses)for around 500 so I think With just a radiator and bonnet you might be under 800 but that sucks big time!!

yeah tell me about it, im lucky it was only one that didnt make it out of the way, at least five were ambling across in front of me when i came over the crest..also lucky i wasnt doing the speeds i had been just moments before

Matty flynn off this here forum promised to help me change the radiator, will ring around for a new one tomorrow. Now if only i can get Matt up during daylight hours..

Grab one of the Fenix radiators from via the member's forum...they usually have them in stock, and a good price

Another option is Justjap cooling pro at $330.

company called ASI (on eBay, Melbourne) sell dual core alloy radiators to suit your car for around $199. Seem to be decent quality too. I bought one for rb26 a year ago, no issues. Aldo might be a good idea to ring some wreckers for replacement bonnet, should be able to get a bonnet & radiator for $500....

i know roos have an instict to jump infront of things which is really dangerous, i dont know about dear tho, did it jump out at you or was it crossing the road? dam lucky with the damage you have, could of been worse 10 fold.

It was just standing in the middle of the road i think..or it jumped out into, happened so fast i cant remember.

I would love some trick high end radiator but after ring all these places...

NG Jap Spares : 02-97928112 - Padstow

Sydney Wreckers : 02-97092800 - Greenacre

Sumo Spares : 02-97247860/0423590284 -Chipping Norton - behind the Bankstown Airport

Tempe Tokyo Spares : 02-95589926 -Princess highway, Tempe

Just Jap : 02-97248066 - Hume highway, Lansvale

Jap Centre : 02-97256666 - Lansvale

i only found one with a radiator set up going fro 350 including condenser and support bar.

then rang...

unit 54/93 newton rd, wetherill park Skyline Spares 0410069096 will do bonnet and radiator bits for 650 so will probably head out there tomorrow before lunch. will still order the CF bonnet i think and use the stock one until that comes in, should be able to be back to normal by tomorrow arvo for under a grand including getting radiator fitted by the Skyline spares mechanic.

when CFiber bonnet finally gets down from QLD i will just use that till defected :P

thanks for the recommends Tangles and Stabby, cant be arsed waiting for the new ones to get delivered though :( im guessing that price doesnt include the extra bits like support bar and condenser?

is this dual core thing much better than the stock version?

oh and some more pics

figure i will get the windscreen replaced too as it has a long crack across the drivers side..whats the chance of insurance believing me that it was the deers fault?..

That could have been a lot worse, consider yourslef lucky!

Worst Ive hit was a possum, all I saw in my rearview mirror was what looked liked tearing up a brown pillow and scattering stuffing allover the road.

yeah im putting the money down for it this arvo, not sure if i should pay another 300 for a back up that is actually legal but will see.

was going to take care to spares place today but battery was flat after only 4 days..had to charge the jumper pack too..but 48 hours to charge?! WTF

I had the same issue with my 33 my battery was going flat if it sat there for more then a day..... Yer probably isnt a bad idea to have a back up bonnet just incase cause we all know what cops can be like :whistling:

    • Is there a shroud around the tailshaft spline into the back of the box? They can rub and make a horrible noise if they are not on straight/damaged. The heat might have caused it to grow too much in one direction and rub.
    • Strangely I noticed it either disappear later in the day, or not be present. I definitely noticed when I was crawling around that open wheel thingy entering the pits (that part was audible in car). Driving home and commuting around town for example, I didn't hear it. It's plausible that it was a brake disc or something still slightly in contact. The brakes absolutely felt BAD for the first couple of sessions, huge amounts of shudder and grinding as they got up to temp - And then I actually just forgot about it as the day went on/didn't notice it. The videos were from the morning when this was more present than the afternoon/drive home when it wasn't. I've asked around and got a variety of responses including handbrake shoe contacting hub, CV joints, CB tailshaft bearing as above, and clutch input bearing. I didn't test if it disappeared when clutch was in. I haven't noticed it in any of the other videos nor did I notice it when driving to that extent. More or less hoping the microphone at the rear license plate giving some kind of clue of 'something' but it looks like "spin stuff and see if you can notice it" is the way forward here. I could be smart and use the gopro mic and re-mount it to that location to see if the sound is still present at low speed actually. Sounds like a decent test whenver I have the CBF'ness to drive the car again. Given it's almost 40C for the day of the track day and the next 3 days after, the CBF is high. All I've done since getting home is unpack the car, remove the remnants of the lip and undertray and left it there. I was surprised how well the PMU Club Racers actually worked. The brake performance on the track was absolutely fantastic, best I've ever personally used, no fade whatsoever and the bitiness was almost too good, I was scrubbing more speed off than I needed to, but I also ended up infield when I started trying to scrape off ... less speed.... so...
    • Not really, no. Anything you would do is easily reversible.
    • I would like more noise related info for my truly uneducated guess  Does it do it at idle or when revving, clutch engaged, and disengaged? Does it only do it when the car is moving? I've heard "similar" noises from a clutch pack that left the chat room, and CV joints that have chewed themselves out But as Matt said, how's the yokes, tailshaft and centre bearing going after their last little issue Fingers crossed it is something simple  Weird noises make me cringe
    • One other question, is there a chance that changing the idle speed can lead you down a rabbit hole and is the reason the tuner didn't touch it? Reason I ask is because if that's the reason the tuner avoided it then I probably shouldn't be touching it lol.
