LOL pun intended iplen? yeah will get mechanic to look it all over when i get out there, didnt bloody start this morning and im worried it wasn't just the battery issue :(

might wait till friday as bonnet will take 2 days to deliver apparently, quote on E-go is only 27 bucks which is pretty win!

If there is no water on the temp sensor, it will not show as overheating... hate to put a dampner on things.. but I would be checking that out..

Pretty sure the sensor is at the bottom of the radiator, so unless you've got no coolant at all it should still work. But maybe gtst's are different.

Oh and CF bonnet = ricer, but on the plus side, you wont be so ronery with the extra police attention... (i'm pretty sure it will be defectable - pedestrian collision safety)

yeah pretty curious if it will attract that much extra attention, hence picking up the standard one for 300 as well. Will just get the CF one sent to my place and have a friend help me chuck it on at some point. Then cruise up and down George st on a friday night baiting cops to see if they bite..

up early tomo to hope the jumper does its job and i can make it to Wetherill Park by 11, windscreen people will be there too, 100 bucks for a 2nd hand one, 200 more to get it installed which is pretty good value i think

no, the water temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator is for the additional A/C thermo fan only.

The ecu/dash water temp sensor will be on the motor somewhere. On the GTR it is on the intake manifold, not sure about gtst.

It's on the intake plenum where the top radiator hose connects to.

There will be two sensors, one with 1 wire attached, one with two wires attached.

The one wire is for the dash, two wires is the ECU.

i have been pulled over n butt raped by highway patrol before

during the butt raping and non butt raping times they never cared about my bonnet.

Prehaps its because i have the Aero flush pins that shows its secured down.

yeah a friend at work mentioned those pins, showed me the link on ebay, pretty nifty stuff.

will pick up retail though from the shop out west, once i run into him and get the name of the place again..

just got to skyline spares at eleven, after an hour and a few estimates of near 4k just to straighten the support bar and install radiator gear i bowed to the inevitable and rang Just Cars. They will tow it in the next hour or two to a preferred repairer and i will hear from them in a week from now. Yes, a freakin WEEK!

oh well it should only take another week after that too fix hopefully..

so much for Marulan this wknd..

  • 4 weeks later...

Damn Nee-san, almost exactly one month later and its fixed.

talk about on the money...looks good though!

the new headlights look amazing and its nice to finally have a car that doesn't look like it just trundled off a demolition derby track (even before the accident it was a bit rough).

so other than the long wait its a pretty good result!

Driving late nights up in the hills, I have seen countless deer however we never hit any. We always assumed the deer have been scared off by the loud exhaust noises.

Saw a stag once. HUGE. Something would don't want to hit. Horns over 1meter across, probably weighed 250kgs.

yeah saw a Stag at least twice as big as the doe i actually hit bounding off into the distance so it could have been a lot worse, last time i take the lead though..yeah Matt it really shocked me how 'new' the car looked with the fresh headlights. i hope they stay shiny for as long as possible..

i know the rims only have a week or so till they are as black as soot again

Last weekend I hit a hare.....still picking rotting chunks out of my intercooler....In other news ARC intercoolers can take a 110km/h hit from a 1-2kg object without breaking! lol

Ya know it's definitely worth adding about animals being on rural roads of a night, early mornings evenings:

I remember seeing a 180SX near where I live sitting in the side of the road with its sump ripped out after it hit a wombat.

Every night I drive home there are countless dead animals and damaged cars about.

Usually speed limits in rural areas ( or areas outside of the city) range from 80Ks to 100Ks ( typically) . So if it's a rural or semi rural area there is going to be a range of animals on the road, Kangaroos, Wombats, Fox, Deer, and so on… (all nocturnal)

If ya traveling in the night at the speed limit, and ya hit an animal, apart from probably killing it your car is going to get some heavy damage.

When im in these areas of a night, im usually driving along on about 65 to 70Ks (regardless of the higher speed limits) which in the night gives me a bit of time to see all these animals and stop/slow/avoid etc. Ive noticed when one of these animals see ya car, they run in the direction their head is pointing, so if they are looking toward you, that's the direction they will run in, just because they see you doesnt mean they will avoid you, they wont. Same as if they are pointing away from you, they will run away in most cases.

If people don't live in a rural area, it's not something that wouldnt really occur to most ppl, and it's a dead set guarantee a huge range of animals of a night ARE going to be on the road. So its just better to drop below the speed limit for when they suddenly pop out in front of ya car.

I've averted dozens of hits by driving slower on those types of roads in the night, its good for our animal population, good for my car and my money☺
