i have been installing alarms for 10 years either the autowatch or an antitheft car alarm both australian standards and insurence standards.

20 yrs and I'm curious if you do them like I do ( interior out )?

the key thing on alarms in general is install. you can spend buckets of dosh on one have a shit job done and then rag the crap out of the unit cause it is 'unreliable'. if its done properly then you should never have an issue with it.

food for thought.

Cyclops is part of Dynamco as is Autowatch, both same address in WA.

Wonder what the difference is then between the two? From my past dealing with cyclops they were a good unit, without many problems if any.

both south african owned.

autowatch AU was sth african owned and was merged with dynamco.about 6 months ago. Vision electronics also has the same address now.

thats where the similarity ends. cyclops and autowatch are TOTALLY different products aimed at ENTIRELY different markets.

IMO - cycops is aimed at the lower end of the market and autowatch at the higher end.

both do their intended job without fuss but autowatch build a better mousetrap.

Most people won't tell you that online. My insurance company didn't reduce my premium because I told them it had an alarm when I got insurance (it did - the stock Nissan one - I didn't realise it wasn't Aus standards approved).

Spend enough on an Australian standards approved alarm (Auto watch, Cyclops, Mongoose, etc) and you'll be fine. Expect to pay $400-500 fitted for a decent one.
