ahh damn thats a shame, sorry for the pointless question then!

ill probs go with the R31 skyline unless i get the classic urge and go for a KE corolla with the 4AGE or something to stick an RB30 in haha

jonno - if you want sporty fun, you have to get a manual - atleast in the older cars. the old 4 speed softy auto transmitions of the 80's/90's really don't cut it for spirited driving. Your looking for room so 4door, cheap parts, so aus made.... think your options are a falcodore in manual. Any r31 is going to need parts and nissan doesn't have a good rep for that.

if i were you, i wouldn't even bother with trying to buy a 3k sports car. if you can push your budget to 5k, you have a much better range.

Companies spend millions of dollars developing engines to run efficient and for long periods of time. As soon as you change that balance with modifications, you can bet with any car it will decrease in reliability.

XR6T's are cool, but with any Australian produced car, will depreciate in value rather rapidly. So if you buy the new FG for say..40k, drive out the showroom, and your re-sale is 35k or even 30k.

R32 GTR's are a solid option, because they are not going to depreciate in value. Buy for 15k, you can and will sell for 15k after that. Depends on how you drive also in regards to 'breaking down'.

R34 GT-T's, for maintenance would be the best bet. RB25 parts are becoming cheaper (except for gearboxes, for a reason) and will still retain value. will usually have less KM's too than you'd expect.

R34 from my viewpoint.

Check out Volk34's r34 4 door in the for sale section.

I'm not really too fussy on the size of the car, was looking at auto cars since i drive ALOT and i spend a good 3/4 of my time on the roads stuck on peak hour traffic jams ...

if not the R31 in terms of more "sporty" cars I was thinking of old KE corollas, old SSS pulsars, old datsuns and the like, something that can be a bit of a project and just have some fun with on track days, R31 just seemed like a good idea since its usually in auto and a nice big car (and i thought pretty cheap parts seeing as it has the same engine as the old commodore) and not to mention an easier turbo conversion with the RB30ET

perhaps ill consider just getting any falcon running on LPG in my price range and save me some money on fuel costs as well - but no fun :(

I'll try and stick with my sexcel for a good few more months (ill have to pay for another round of rego now!) and increase my budget so I can get something nicer.

James how's your bubble laugh.gif?
