I'm not surprised you found some info that that test was a bit bogus. I had wondered about the zeitronix ZT2 being rated so low as to the best of my knowledge it's an excellent product. the ZT2 can support a whole bunch of stuff an LC1 and basic gauge can't. it has logging function and can support a whole range of useful inputs like EGT etc. it's a bit more expensive than the basic LC2 innovate kit but it's got more features for sure.

The XD-16 is discontinued, shame they didnt test the LC1 but I would assume it would be just as accurate from the comparisons I have done.

So you are saying you can use the wideband and ecu to dynamically control afrs? Surely something my power fc can't do lol. I might pick up a innovative unit. Shop near my place has them plus 12 months warranty

power FC doesn't have 'quick tune' feature but with a datalogit you can log AFR and have actual AFR in the map so you can see what AFR in which cell etc.

it does have narrowband closed loop control for cruise conditions though so you can use the simulated narrow band output straight into the power FC to keep a stoich cruise AFR.

Yeah, $279 for the base of the kit seems pretty good. But you have to buy the supporting sensors, ie.. pyrometer is $89, 3.5 bar MAP sensor $115...

I'm very happy with my AEM UEGO unit. Never having to calibrate it is great :)

Have mine outputting AFR's to my laptop so I can log them on FC-Edit. Very handy being able to do this.

As for the simulated narrowband output to your power FC for cruise AFR's. How is this done? Just use the signal line from the wideband and join it to the narrowband signal wire?

yer hook it up to the standard o2 sensor signal wire. in standard form 1v is rich, 0 is lean and .5v is stoich. its still a good idea to tune it properly around cruise though as the narrowband is only used under constant throttle and having a big difference between the tuned afr and stoich (or whatever you trick the pfc into being stoich) will result in a bit of surging while cruising.

yeah I probably wont bother, I get pretty good economy out of tuning it to set values. Cars been a bit strange lately, went a bit lean the other day on cruise so I tuned it back to where it should be and now its gone rich, so think I will have to check over everything to see why its doing this

You could hook up a GM 3bar map sensor if you wanted too but I don't think it's as accurate as the one they sell. I just have the EGT hooked up so I log A/F and egt. I do need to get the map sensor tho it would help with the boost transition tuning.

I love it, I own 2 of them. I log all my stuff though nistune so it works out perfect. It's a little over whelming at 1st. I just keep my eye on the A/F and egt then check things over after a pull on the dyno. I have the LCD display for mine but I find that not too useful when doing dyno runs. Keeping a eye on things when your driving it's not too bad. I want to get the new gauge tho looks like it's a little better on the eyes. I ran the same 02 sensor for 4 years before I had to change it. Just like the AEM it has the narrow band output to keep the factory ecu happy.

Do any of these sensors fit in the standard bung for the Skyline? Need something this week, I was looking at the innovate piece for around 200. As much good stuff I hear about them, I hear bad stuff. I don't want to spend much, just something which will give an good quick reading and I can use with my PFC for basic home tuning.

Is the AEM one the one that can calibrate in the air or is that the Innovate piece? I'm stuck between the LC1 or the AEM AUEGO thing.

Is it the sensor which makes it wideband or the module? If you got the sensor and hooked it straight into the car will it just operate as a narrowband or can you wire it up to the FC Datalogit to use the wideband spectrum.

Wideband is able to read a 'wide' range of AFR's but a narrowband is designed to work it a 'narrow' band of AFR. A narrowband basically just reads about a 1 point AFR range, as this is only as much as is needed to keep a lean cruise AFR. The ECU only needs to add fuel if it is above this range, or take fuel if it is below this range till it gets within the region that the narrowband will read. Or at least this is how I understand it

widebands will work on a larger range. Its the sensor that is the wideband part. The gauge/controller is basically just reading signal from the sensor.

AEM UEGO's dont ever need to be calibrated, Innovates require fresh air calibration every 3 months (recommended at least) from memory. Have absoloutly no complaints about my AEM kit, and there not overly expensive at the moment

I really like my Zeitronics kit. Very accurate and easy to setup.

standard bung is 18x1.5mm which is the same as the bosch lsu sensors used by innovate and several other brands.

no you cant wire the wideband directly into the narrowband signal, the wideband needs the controller to run it.

I havent googled it , but my wiseband gauge is stuck on 14.8

once i start the car it goes thru the motions and the numbers change but once its going it just stays there (14.8)

dont tell me ive burnt the sensor out as some big mountain runs the turbo was glowing red , its about 12 inces before the cat

    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard

    • So my car is finally back from paint! This took an absolutely insane amount of work and should get it's own build thread - but I didn't build it. It was completed by Troy @ https://scalekustoms.com.au/ I originally bought the AOSHIMA URAS Type R kit while I was in Japan, it's supposed to look like this when assembled: Now, I thought that was cool enough until I opened the box with Dismay, as there's no way I could possibly have completed it. The thing is 1/24 and has details down to the steering wheel horn button, which is a 2mm diameter sticker. I originally wondered if someone could make it at all, as is - But then things got a little carried away. It's worth noting that the model does not have an openable bonne, let alone engine bay, OR an openable boot. - Troy has worked wonders with 3D printer and presumably better eyes than I will ever have. My photos suck, so I will post up some of his in-progress ones he sent to me during the way. Unsuprisingly, he is very detailed. A lot of these are out of order. But he: 1) Made a LS engine and an engine bay appear out of thin air 2) Made the bonnet removable 3) Printed the rims I will buy in the future (or any rim you want) 4) Printed and added the wing that is going on 5) Tinted my back windows as this is what my car has IRL (privacy glass) 6) Added a licence plate. 7) Somehow did the interior 8) 3D Printed my actual seats 9) Made the exhaust under the car connect even though this is likely invisible. 10) Created a boot with my fking battery box, power steering reservoir, subwoofer and toolboxes back there. To say it's insane is an understatement. And I f**ked it all up because when I was re-mounting the wing (it broke in transit) I spilled glue everywhere and ripped paint up and Gregged the rear half of the car. Which about makes sense. Also, this arrived on the same day. Quite the change from: I spent 16 hours per day over the next 3 days pre-christmas putting the interior back together, mounting lip, fixing various bodykit problems with window mouldings, etc. and servicing, rebuilding my 370z brakes to go on the car 'soon', messing with heights to check clearances for new wheels, etc. I also had a foray into mounting wiper-mounted washer jets which was an absolute disaster. The bodyshop has welded (and painted) over the stock jet locations for reasons unknown to everybody (i.e they forgot) I also wanted to wire in the oil pressure sensor on Christmas Eve which was a BAD IDEA. You do not know terror like pulling your ECU apart, pinning in half-fitting pins that aren't the right ones, but trying anyway because it's Christmas eve, putting your ECU back together and having a no-start condition with a fuel pump not priming. Then you undo all your work and the fuel pump still doesn't prime. So after all that terror and horror and pain and tedious disassembly, the issue was the relay in the boot which seems to have died/stuck when I was turning the car off and on about 700 times testing shitty washer jets. I also re-wired the fuel pump power plug which fell apart in my hands. I am very happy I had 3 extra pre-made ones from a few posts/last Christmas's breakdown. https://bluewireautomotive.com/products/10-x-pcm-ecm-ecu-terminals I have put an order for these in, so I can actually add the pins to the ECU properly. The commodore ECU does not have the pins for Oil Pressure via ODB2. However the ECU can support it if you create the pins and wire them in. So for round two, and somehow attempting to route that into the engine bay through my impossible engine bay grommet is a fight for another day. It's 40C in Melbourne tomorrow, I am half tempted to drive the car with the aircon on to deliver presents to my partner's family and see if it helps with the overheating-on-40C-days-in-traffic-with-aircon-on-only issue that the vents were intended to solve. Do I feel lucky?
    • Yes, while being... strictly unnecessary. Tuning is a bit like quantum physics. You don't need to understand what Schroedinger's equation actually means. You just need to run the computation and accept the answers. With tuning, you just push page up/down until the exhaust tells you that you've got the fuel right. The VE can stay hidden behind the curtain like the Wizard of Oz and you'll never need to know what he looked like.
