Okay boys and girls, this is it. The LAST drift practice day for 2011!!

This will be your last time to get out on the track in a non competition day. For anyone new to the sport wanting to have a go now is the time! Driver training and practice runs from 10am until 4pm Saturday!

As on the flyer $130 entry fee (CAMS and club membership - available on the day).

Baskerville Raceway is one of THE BEST drift tracks in Australia so take the opportunity to start learning on an ideal track!

AND an exciting new addition to the practice day time table, our Clerk of the Course has allocated 1 hour between 11.30am and 12.30pm during the next practice day/come and try day for sponsor rides. All sponsors must be proven to the Clerk of the Course to be legitimate sponsors and they must sign a Passenger Disclaimer before getting into the vehicle.

Drivers will also have the opportunity to ride together for training and development purposes throughout the day. All runs with passengers will be single runs. If you intend to put a passenger in your car you must declare this to the scrutineers at scrutiny and your car will be marked accordingly so that start line can identify those eligible.

It is important to note that a CAMS compliant roll over protection structure is a cage that satisfies the current FIA standards as found in Schedule J of the General Requirements in the CAMS Manual of Motorsport, which can be found here: www.cams.com.au or in the attached document.

You do not need to have your roll over protection structure certified and log booked to be able to take passengers on a drift practice day, it just needs to be CAMS compliant as per schedule J attached, and the scrutineers need to be satisfied that it is indeed compliant with the schedule. However, Drifting Tasmania recommends that you do have your rollover protection structure certified by registering your vehicle by way of a log book.

All information pertaining to the event is contained in the attached supplementary regulations, and I have attached some CAMS information regarding roll cages in vehicles ;)

I've got a pair of 17"x7 +38 if you want to borrow?

hey all im pretty new to the scene so bare with me haha..

im a member of hscc but i havent got a cams license, is cams required to enter drift practice or is cams just required to compete?

how much is a cams license because if its required i might be a tightass and wait till next year and get my years worth.

cheers

Hey Jack,

You can get a CAMS licence on the day, I can't remember how much it is exactly but I think it's like $110.

Your licence lasts for a year from the day you pay for it so you don't need to worry about buying it at the right time to get your years worth.

Hope that helps.thumbsup.gif

Looks like I have to pull the pin on this one. My WRX is a spit of jealous rage stole all the money I had put aside for this event :(

When he got it, the tune was for the 2871r which it had before making 240kw, but was swapped for a gt-ss, but tune wasnt adjusted so was running mega rich and washed down the bores on the first motor, so he swapped the blocks with a healthy motor, had the tune touched up by a workshop (won't mention who) so was ment to be fine, then less than 1000kms later same thing happened... so motor came apart and got new rings etc, then went to pro auto for a new tune from scratch.... had some trouble with cams being dialed in so only made like 170kw... got all that sorted and then re-tuned with a t28 as the gt-ss blew, made 201 kw on a nice safe tune :)

    • I figured out what’s wrong. It’s something to do with the high beam wire short circuiting. When I measure the continuity with a multimeter on the headlight socket connector it gives me a continuous beeping noise when I put it on the ground socket and also on the high beam socket.  On the passenger side of the car (working side), it’s only beeping when the probe is on the ground socket. Which makes sense.  So that means it has something to do with the high beam power supply for the drivers side. How do I trace that? Is it the turn signal lever malfunctioning? The one that also controls the high beam and low beams.

    • How did you go with your problem? End up fixing it. Have a y34 aswell vq30det
    • But if I smoke test 5th cylinder it’s all ok, no leaks  when I try with 2nd it’s leaking exhaust and intake, it doesn’t come from oil dip stick.    so maybe when car was running poorly, rich or sth. Spark plugs were black and covered in charcoal or sth lookalike. could potential contamination make valves not seal properly? is there also a possibility that rb’s don’t have equal performing cooling passages  meaning back of the engine will be hotter than front. Can this cause improper wear if engine was running under load for short time? Or carbon build up could just burnt from 4-6 and is still on 1-3?   I out of my head like really. Timing is as manual crank-exhaust 47, exhaust-intake 38 at this point I thinking about give it a try and make another 500-1000km and check if anything change, if not I will most likely disassemble engine head /or whole engine and send it back to rebuild. It’s killing me
