Challenging venue for sure.

Challenging venue + first major event for these guys. There is defiantly room for improvement, there always is.

Just remember when you are framing your comments, that events like these don't happen very often / at all. Why? Because criticism makes or breaks an event. Negative criticism will always project over positive.

So make the comments constructive and these events will continue to be held and improved.

- change to the transition onto the dome, much to harsh

- investigate what can be done with the bump out the back, harsh on the car

- big screen so fans can see what is happening

- more raised platforms for the fans

- if there are going to be heaps of drifters, put the time attack crews in the middle not all the way down the end

- limit any structures that may block the fans view of the track

As a driver the layout feels like Haunted Hills on Acid.

As for SAU VIC event there, I'm behind that. With a change to turn 3 (elevation change to the the dome), the track itself provides criminal amounts of fun.

The video just doesn't do the layout justice. The dome part of the track is seriously banked and the run into final s complex is something you don't get at any of the other Vic tracks. The corner just doesn't end!

So make the comments constructive and these events will continue to be held and improved.

Fair point. I just wanna see what I paid $25 for.... increased visiblity is a must!!

there was about 6-8 of us entered in the time attack, so we were located in the pits rather than the spectator area.

Shame I didn't see this particular event topic on the forum before going down... I checked out the cars in the pit during yesterday's lunch break, would have said hello. Hope you guys did well ;)

I was there both days and for an event that was a few first times the organisers did do extremely well.

Although viewing from the spectator area was a bit limited dont forget these guys do have health and safety of patrons to think of (if anyone was there on the sat when one of the All Type Crash guys got too close to the tyres may have seen the media guy get K.O.ed)

I know many people are used to Winton and other laid back track events, but for a sponsored event I think the organisers did very well to find not only support from the community but also from people willing to put money where there mouth is and back aussie drivers who aren't just driving in a straight line.

I suspect the organisers would have heard it loud and clear that they hadn't catered very well for the general public. I went with the Mrs and we were extremely disappointed with the inability to see anything.

You would expect that considering it's an event for the spectators that they would have spent a bit more time planning it out a bit better. After all, isn't that how they make an income?

Here's hoping that they do a better job next time. I would need A LOT of convincing to go back. Shame about the state of the venue.... I was even disappointed in the signage (lack of) and the state of the car park - it looked like a poorly graded tip.

The highlight of Sunday was walking up to the SAU end of the pits to talk to Richo and Russ between sessions (the one after the tyre was removed from the track). Sorry I missed introducing myself to you!

I emailed off a fair bit of feedback that sits on both sides of the fence.

End of the day they gotta look after the drivers just as much - without them you dont have an event.

They all enjoyed themselves from the talk around the pits, as did the track guys. So they've got that spot on, now to work on other areas. I've organised many events over the years and often the first one of a regular thing can struggle even with the best planning as there is always stuff you just don't think of :)

Ah no stress, i wasn't around my car a lot on Sunday, i was sitting in the Red Bus Racing camp as i was exhausted :(

The first race on the Thunderdome was held just two weeks after its opening, although the track used incorporated both the Thunderdome and the pre-existing National Circuit. It was a 300-kilometre event for touring cars, with John Bowe and Terry Shiel in a Nissan Skyline taking first place - to date the only time a Japanese car has won a race held on the Thunderdome.

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility   
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
