Just trying to find out if there are more than one rev limit addresses in the RB20DET (ECCS). The reason I ask is that I decided to put my rev limiter up to 8200 and it hasn't change at all.

Ive always been under the impression that it was set at 7800 and was found at 7FB4(address line) in the eprom.

Any ideas guys?

Well if anyone is interested I did end up finding what the second address is for the rev limiter. Ok address one is 7fb4(and this value is 9C in hex which ends up being 7800rpm) and the second is 7f8b (and his value is 97 in hex which ends up being 7550rpm)

I tested both these values and these seem correct.

Oh would anybody be interested in me posting up some stock binary files for a couple of cars. I have a R32gtr and an R32 gts-t stock bin file plus a few others.

Firstly you need to get you ecu's eprom removed and a 28pin socket put into its place so you can insert/remove the eprom easily. If you aren't to confident to do this just take it to a tv repair shop and get them to do it for a small cost.

Secondly you need an eprom reader/writer that will allow you to write new eproms. Theres a good one that you can buy on www.batronix.com that uses the pc usb port. Very good as you dont need a power source for it. They give you the software for it too.

Thirdly you need the software that alows you to modify the eproms data so you can change the rev limits/ fuel cuts / fuel maps / timing maps etc. I use the romeditor software which is located at www.925style.com/editor_direct.html. You need to download the address file for you specific car etc.

I'll get my work laptop online later today and I'll post up the bin files of the RB20DET and the RB26DETT with the adress file for the RB20DET which I had to modify to allow for the adjustment of second rev limiter and a few othe minor things.

I'm guessing you have an R32 GTS-t ?

I'll post up URL of a site that is dedicated to the 300ZX Z32 and it has a very in depth explaiation of the ecu. The same basic principals apply to the R32 GTR/GTS-T. I just don't know the url off the top of my head but is bookmarked on the work laptop.

That zed site is

http://cherrypicker.tripod.com/turboupgrad...0dett/id10.html

The HCR32_256_Rev2.zip is the address file revised for the RB20DET(R32).

The Bnr32.zip is the address file for the R32 GTR.

R32 GTS-T ECCS RB20DETStock.zip is the stock bin file I read from my eeprom and is from a 92 R32 GTS-t type M.

R32 GTR RB26DETT STOCK.zip is the stock bin file for the R32 GTR.

I'll post up some info on how to use romeditor and the basic theory behing the nissan ecu's at a later date when I get the chance.

Yeah that file @ http://www.boostcruising.com/silvia/romstu...uff/romedit.zip is the same as the one I have. Thanx StraightSix.

I just fixed up my post on the files so you all know what the files are. I didn't explain it too well the first time.

Something I was wondering about . . . would a good approach be to tune with piggybacks and then transfer that tune to a chip? Or would the fact that the piggybacks can only give you values that are already in the factory chip be too limiting?

Oh and RD would you object if I reposted those files on GTRCanada?

Cheers

Jason

Piggy back computers are really limited to what the ecu can do in the end, well from what I understand anyway. I would say it would be just as easy to start from the ecu chip rather than to transfere from a piggy back.

As for the files thats fine I don't mind at all.

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
