Shiny
Hi I'm brand new to the Nissan scene and this whole importing business, however I am very keen to look at getting a gtr vspec either a 32 or a 33 some time next year due to finances. Has anyone had any experience with Melbourne based importers? Currently I'm looking at SSV however I've only just started browsing and setting goals to get to my budget. Also are gtr's expensive to maintain? Coming from Honda I've no idea the running costs. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373756-melbourne-importers/ Share on other sites
Chris Rogers
32 GTR - yes! if you buy a cheap one be prepared to spend your purchase price again fixing everything on it. if you are looking at 32s then I sould suggest clicking HERE for a bit of info on what to look for in the body. worked on plenty of 33s - never owned one though so I cannot comment. Shiny
I've only ever driven one r33 gtr and loved it, except the 4 wheel steer which I found was weird. so with importing I've only read a few threads and kinda have the bare basics on how it's done, what I'm worried about is extra hidden costs; if I go to an importer and ask them to find a vehicle for me, they do so and they state a figure, that wouldn't be drive away no more to pay kind of deal I'm assuming. So any advice for me? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373756-melbourne-importers/#findComment-5963817 Share on other sites
SS8_Gohan
looked locally? i'd imagine there be a bunch available here on the forums for a start. IMO, have a crack locally first, if no luck, go Japan. unless you're after something really specific, or want to be the first Oz owner. As for import yards? there are just too many dodgy ones. You're better off using a broker, like Iron Chef, to bring one in. In terms of hidden costs, you won't really get any with a good broker. You pay your fee, they do the search, once you find the one you want you just start paying the bills as they're due. They just tell you when, where, who and how much All of which i'm sure would be explained before starting out.
