Hey lads,

just a quick question, today for the 3rd time I left my lights on at work & drained my battery....oops.

just wondering, most cars either have an auto off function so when you open the door the lights turn off (my old Calais did this) or at least an alarm/chime to remind you.

do r34's have this? if they do then obviously mine is buggered, so any help on fixing this would be appreciated :)

if they don't come with anything like that, then maybe I need a post it note on my steering wheel haha

cheers fellas !

is your car auto, and does it beep in reverse?

yes it should have a "lights on/no keys" warning chime. But it may be a combined unit for reverse, headlights and overspeed.

If you can't get the factory one working you can buy and install a generic one from Jaycar.

do you leave your car on a turbo timer by any chance??? cause of course the chime doesn't work while engine is still running... try sitting in your car, turn lights on and you should hear the chime. sometimes though I know when I really quickly get out of the car you kind of pull the key as you hop out and don't hear it.

it's manual & no doesn't beep in reverse, also it's an n/a so no turbo timer for me haha

there's definitely no chime whatsoever :(

I'm guessing my best bet is to take it to an auto-elec, I've got some other electrical issues that need attention like my clock & trip computer resetting every time I turn the car on/off & my alarm system causing many headaches haha

thanks for the info guys, appreciated !

Hmmmm.. Look in the DIY section, there's a DIY guide on how to disconnect the chime, so maybe you could do the reverse?

I think the wirings and stuff are in your steering wheel column, near the ignition barrel.
