Hi guys,

Sorry for the noob question, but I am hoping someone here can give me the answer. I have got myself the Haltech Platinum Pro ECU for my R33 GTR. It's a Plug N Play ECU, so I am assuming this means I can just take out my stock ECU (which is hooked up to a HKS Fcon Pro V piggy back btw), plugin the Haltech and go for a drive? My car pulled 310 Kw at the wheels when it was last on a dyno (this is how it came off the boat from Japan - there was no tuning involved). The car has aftermarket injectors, dump pipes, larger turbos, a larger HKS inter-cooler, pod filters and an Apexi hi flow cat. I am not a fan of piggy backs and that's reason I went for a stand alone (my mechanic also advised me to go with a stand alone).

Am I getting the whole Plug N Play concept wrong or do I need to get it properly tuned before even thinking of going out for a drive with the new ECU?

I know I am coming across as absolute noob, but I will be grateful for any any advice.

I am just excited at getting the new ECU, and hence why I am keen to put it in the car!

No you cannot go for a drive. You have the concept wrong.

Plug and Play simply means that it connects to your stock loom without modification, and works.

All it comes with a base map, that is configured for a 100% stock car only.

If you have aftermarket bits, you need to configure them within the ECU. The ECU does not know what parts you have over stock unless you tell it.

So given your modifications - Do NOT attempt to go for a drive. You must have it configured and tuned.

It's the older Silver version mate. Version 2.1 and the tuning software is all apparently in Japanese. There are only a few tuners Australia wide that can tune it (most interstate, and a couple here in Melbourne I know of).
