Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and currently on the market for a new GTR. I would like to hear some opinion about this car. I've heard many great things about the car, but I want to hear from the enthusiast, the good and bad about this car, things that I should be aware of during the purchase.

From the States I see there is GTR "black edition", correct me if i'm wrong, for AUST model, the factory car already contains similar option like the "Black Edition" ?

I'm currently driving a C63 so I really look forward to the NEW GTR, due to the AWD ability to put all the power down..

Does GTR came with LSD from factory? Is the aftermarket LSD better than factory fitted?

Also about the warranty I would like to hear about aftermarket tunning, what kind of tunning will affect the factory warranty?

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

J

We used to get black edition (premium) with red/black seats and black roof lining

But for 2011 Nissan Aus has given us the jdm base model now with grey roof lining and all black interior

Any changes to the car will void warranty, mod at your own risk

Ive owned a c63 with the factory LSD and it's laughable how much lack of mechanical grip it has. You don't have to worry about that in the GTR. In stock tune, there's plenty of grip

Thanks for your feedback Dom, do you see a big different between 2010 and 2011 GTR car?

have a look at a few threads down

martin from willall did a back to back comparo with ecu tune + midpipe on both 2010 and 2011 and there's pretty much no difference

at the least you'll want a straight through midpipe. the stock exhaust note is far too camry - read non-existent

edit! here's the thread

Isnt the 2012 gtr a hybrid?

if rumor is correct that means 2012 gonna be heavier...?because is hybrid.

I suspect the next model change R36 could be hybrid, not on R35 yet..

what do you guys think about GT BLUE? vs the WHITE Pearl?

Thanks again.

we're a long way off before the next gen gtr arrives

I really like the new white

blue doesn't work on the gtr imo, all that metallic'ness reminds me of a mazda 3 paintjob

How long will the R35 shape last until? Im thinking if i get 11 model, maybe only 2 or 3 years to go before the new shape will come out? or should last abit longer?

Considering they spent longer on the shape than all the rest of the car engineering, I'd think they might stretch it out a bit more ;)

Having said that, who knows what Carlos is thinking, he could easily go for another design. I suspect it will go more along the lines of how Porsche does things, minor changes but not a full re-design.

yeh the 2011 changes were enough that you'd imagine another power bump and facelift at the least before a completely new design

just jump in mate, you'll be forever waiting if you keep chasing the latest model

i tend to rate cars on how good they are in their own right rather than if they are the current model or not

ive hung on to my E46 M3 even though its been parked since buying the GTR because i love that inline 6 engine and know there'll never be another like it

If its going to be hybrid it will have the same power but less torque...

  • 3 weeks later...

White is my preference by far. It will never go out of fashion and contrasts with the black rims nicely. Also, when it's dirty, it doesn't look neglected. But please don't get white because I like that there isn't too many out there yet.

I'm trying to do some reading on the Cel-Fi stuff, but I can't find any decent info online that makes me feel comfortable being able to work out the sort of antennas we could get away to swapping it over to. The antennas I'm starting to do some stuff with at work, are a transparent antenna. They're designed to stick onto the window. Which means you wouldn't even have the antenna outside the car. Volkswagen have just started using the exact same types of antennas on some of their new cars (And from the same antenna manufacturer). But, RF stuff is a bit of a dark art some days, and getting it wrong in your car could make for a terrible waste of money trying to swap antennas :S
    • I'm not going to lie Duncan, Saturday and Sunday were pretty rough days. The sort of work I was doing would previously have ended up with me spending about an hour and a half chatting with Neil. Firstly about something I had a question about, and then both of us rambling off on tangents.  I think how Neil did things, and his attitude to getting it done is helping me in part to get this stuff done. Then I can actually do the things I enjoy more easily
    • Talked to another R34 GT-T owner, he said bonnet of his car once fell and slammed from full height because of strong wind at a car show and nothing was damaged or broken, so I guess I'm just overthinking some things but yeah, just making sure I'm not damaging the car anyhow cause wanna keep it for a long time.
