Alrite, Ive recently put an rb25 in my r32 started it up for the first time and heard the timing belt was done too tight...

having previously fitted a gates racing kit. I loosened the belt and fitted some bkr6eya's

i started the car again

now there was a slight grinding sound intermittent from the passenger cam cover.

i loosend the timing cover and the cas and it didnt seem to make to much of a difference.

I removed the cas and the bearing in the cas appears to be fine.

My initial thought was sh%t no oil pressure,

So i removed the cam cover (exhaust side) and started it

The cams were running in pools of oil (so oil pressure isnt the issue)

My last thought is possibly by overtightening the cambelt i could have damaged the end cam cap bearing

If anyone has had this problem and knows the fix please let me know

Ive found a youtube thread of an engine making the same sound (however it is not mine)

Take the top cover off. Remove the grommet including the washers where the cas goes throught the top cover. Refit the cas and grommet to engine WITHOUT the top cover.

Start it up and see if the noise is still there. Mine has the noise with the top cover on.
