BloodBath
I have a Nissan 240sx with an RB25DET. It has an AEM Stand alone EMS. I have had it lean under boost and never seen Knock... I was wondering the procedure for testing the knock sensor circuit before I put in race gas and start adding timing. Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373965-knock-sensor-test/ Share on other sites
89CAL
AFAIK they have to be removed and tested with an oscilliscope, but you must know the frequency at which the sensors register knock as well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373965-knock-sensor-test/#findComment-5965471 Share on other sites
Rolls
Buy knock ears, the only 100% reliable way to tune a car and listen for knock. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373965-knock-sensor-test/#findComment-5965539 Share on other sites
JonnoHR31
lean mixtures wont always induce knock, timing has a much bigger effect. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373965-knock-sensor-test/#findComment-5965587 Share on other sites

Rolls
lean mixtures wont always induce knock, timing has a much bigger effect. Especially when it is winter and the temps are cool. John Sorry here in AUS we have AEM stinger and motorsport ecu's which are different from the US based AEM version 2.. in fact they are not even similar. I JUST NOTICED your location is USA or similar. The AEM Version 2 is an AWESOME ecu and we tune a fair few turbo hondas and some bigger hp supra stuff with them, YES it does have knock control and feedback engines but ive not had a play with one in a R33, it worked awesome on a turbo S2000 we did. I have a feeling it wont be compatible with the std RB25 sensors, but send Aem an enquiry as to whether ot not they are supported as its a great feature in the Version II. Aem Version II http://www.importpartspro.com/306621r33rb26dett.html our Local AEM product range: http://www.enginemanagement.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=107 Its kinda like comparing apples to oranges Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/373965-knock-sensor-test/#findComment-5970995 Share on other sites

I have done all the tuning myself so far, just by data logging runs at the strip and third gear pulls. The weather is kinda shit right now. but I am very excited to see what this rb 25 has got in the future.
