HI Everyone,

A bit of back ground, I haved tuned my Autronic smc, power fc using fc edit, a friends 1200 ute with sr20 and sm2 etc. I am flying in and out of Mt Isa for a month or two working at the lead mine. Anyway it turns a uni buddy of mine has a soarer with an e manage on it and has been having some issues.

He has a wide band connected etc, and I have the skills to tune it pretty good, the problem is I have next to no experience with the E manage but it doesn't seem that hard. The problem I have is with a communicatin error.

Run down here I can get more info tomorrow if needed:

I can get online no problems, the icon flashes green noting it is online in real time mode.

When I try to import or export maps I get a net work error!

When I open a new blank map and try to use the map tracer I can not get it to work.

Could there be an issue with firware versions and software versions on the lap top?

At first I tought maybe it was the usb to serial converter so I sourced an old lap top to try with intergral serial port, same issue.

Any info I can read or experiences? Cheers

I've had this issue before, and its a bitch to sort out.

Good luck with it - I'm not sure if I ever got it working, and I'm a IT Network engineer...

Always hated the emanage, but I think thats one of the very few options available in the soarer?

He might be better off checking to see if nistune has an option?

here is a bit of help also, coming from my IT line of work -

- Serial cables easily die. If its old, replace it.

- USB to Serial Converters don't like being in the sun at all.

- Don't put a long USB cable between the converter and the laptop

I've been tuning for years now, and I've had so many issues like this that makes me want to give up sometimes. They are so problematic.

go to www.trust-power.com and download latest update and update the firmware in the EMU to the latest version.

should fix it.

Secondly open unit and look for the series... the boards are lettered either A B C D E and pretty much anything other than the E is a pain in the ass on Toyota.

Hi Trent,

I have 1.49 on the e manage now, also 1.49 running on the lap top, connects and map trce is working etc, now one other issue, is a emanage blue just a big safc?? I mean it doesnt seem I can get a load signal, I had a read on the net and it seems you can get a map sensor and harness for the emanage, do I need this or can I use the factoy one (Soarer 1jz). Once I know this I will have it sorted.

Ok I have sorted it ( a bit)

It had a greddy profec installed, needed to select this as the load source. Have also found that TPS and factory MAP are wired around the wrong way (dont know who wired this)

I need to go through all the wiring because in the injection adder table I selected every cell and put it to 100% duty and nothing happened, any ideas here before I check all the wiring side?

With MAF table as you say it is tps vs rpm, do I even need to use this?

On the ignition side if I add any timing the car dies straight in the ass, even at light cruise so I thought there is possibly a wiring issue.

  • 2 weeks later...

OK update time

Fixed the TPS and map issue, now the in the MAF table if i add fuel it works as it should, gets rish and lean with addition and subtraction of fuel. Next issue, no matter how much fuel I add to he injector table is makes no difference, also with ignition if i add or subtract even a degree of timing the car will stall.

I quickly checked one pair of injectors (1jz) is batch fire and it was correct, didnt get time for the other ones as I was trying to do some other things. Trent have you ever had this issue?

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
