i got it of a mate for a birthday gift, but they go for $150 as the link.

yeh i mounted it myself, just got some bendy mounting brackets from Bunnings and i was set. i installed jethros too.no more than half a litre at most.

Trans oil should have Thermostat,

as it runs hotter then Engine oils.

so its great putting bigger cooler on but trans runs at about 100 too 110 degs,

if you can find Mazada FD cooler it has built in thermostat ,you may want too look at Filter kits for trans as it will prolong trans oil life.

post-36964-0-75811100-1313646160_thumb.jpg,

Chuckie this is exactly what I want. Can you still pick them up new from Mazda? Or do you need to find a second hand unit?

may be NEW but at WHAT COST HATE TO THINK pinch.gif

I got mine 2nd hand, both in good nick too,

i run one on Trans with Filter kit ,

one on Engine oil with remote + stock filter,

has made a big difference to oil colour as before it was not red as it should be,

iam about to do Trans oil sample so i shall post up what i find out,

any filter will help oil life ,my steering cooler is a big winner as its red still ,before i would change oil in top tank every week & it would be Black.

I had the 6cyl version of the PWR trans cooler (like the one Aaron showed).

Mounted it as you can see below... until I upgraded the intercooler.

I reckon Chuckie's suggestion is pretty good although there have been no ill-effects with a large trans cooler on M35's.

good luck,

best advice ever chuckie!

and idea on the physical size of that transmission cooler? it appears to have the right fittings etc to plumb it straight in

Been hanging to get mine up2 MVs.. Turbo tune said Its the biggest trans cooler they have seen .. "u could use it as a front mount" lol

Hada get it relocated when I put da FMIC on.. sits drivers side behind the body kit factory holes either side on stock S2 front bar bar.

Had shift problem b4 nistune and tune.. Better then all good now... But Really wnt MVs to have a look at the whole set up and find out what was done!

Cheapest I can find for an RX8 oil cooler - http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=14-700D-N3H1

Thought I'd ask SK about his thoughts on it. His brief response was "There is no such thing as too cold transmission fluid."

I don't know what to believe/think. In Australia does it really get cold enough for this to be a concern?

given I can put my hand on mone and almost get a burn off it - yes it is needed and I do agree with teh above statement. heat kills these things - I have a $4500 bill to prove it.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
