Hello There.

I am new so do bare with me here.

I've been converted from Holden Fan to Pure Skyline (praise the son of rajab)

I own a R33 GTS25T only mod I know of is the POD Filter

Last night I was at a set of lights facing an XR6 and sure enough I force fed him some tar.... BUT!!

When I was in the process I made sure I kept below Red Line I made sure gear changes happened between 5 to 6K RPM.

I havent got anything special in my bad boy but a POD filter - everything else is standard.

PROBLEM.....

After this little wank sesh I had betting the XR6 about 5 mins later I started having surging problems like... As i pulled up to another set of lights she didn't idle quite right

and when I engaged my clutch she had intentions of stalling.

NOW...(Sitting in IDLE) the fuel is 98, the engine temp was mid gauge (as usual) and idle was aprox 700 to 900 rpm (where ever it sits at usual idle)

engage clutch and .... the boost goes normal...ish as in it fluctuates with the surges the rpm same and the ride is just s***

As I pulled up to the shops (destination) the engine stalled, it would idle fine but as soon as I engaged the clutch Off the engine goes....

I left it and went shopping come back and she was fine again WTF..... FORD PHANTOM Jealous or something??.....

every now and then just before boost i feel a tiny surge....

I thought the air flow meter.... but need some true knowledge behind this theory...

WTF??? Please Help!!!!

Is this the end of showing other cars whos boss???

obviously wasn't a turbo xr6 otherwise it would've been a pair of tail lights off in the distance, but that's a discussion for a different thread.

the issue you are having may be caused by your coil packs starting to fail (extremely common for the stock coils to start to fail as they are getting on a bit now), or it may be that your plugs are also getting close to needing changing, or possibly that the AAC valve needs a clean (there is a thread about how to do this if you search the tutorial/DIY section). this is the most common cause of the car stalling when the clutch is pushed in when coming to a stop, but not the only possible cause. weak coils of plugs, as i already mentioned, also can cause this plus a few other things.

Thanks man yeah Im well aware the XR6 turbos are really something else ( i keep my eye out for the red sign to make sure im not going to make a fool of myself)

Thanks again for the heads up I'll do a little bit of reading :)

Yes!!

That is not why we are here. It's idiots like you that give the rest of us a bad name. Go back to your bloody Commonwhores if you want to behave like that!

No need to cry there I'm sorry I upset you, you poor thing, sticking up for your fellow enthusiast.... woot woot..... I see where your coming from and ultimately I'm not a hoon!! I'm a big time car enthusiast, I was in an 80 zone facing 100 sign at the set of lights and I dont even think I exceeded 100,

Adding to that Im sorry if I offended you with my hoon humor, but telling you about this stuff is not why I'm here........

YOU FAILED TO ANSWER MY QUESTION!!!!

you dont like what you read be else where

FOCUS!!!!!!

I was trying to explain the scenario as to how this whole surging and stalling took place.... Yesterday I was at an uncles place and he has a LOOOOOONG drive way I was trying to get it to stall there but nooope yet it stalled on the way to his house this is becoming an issue

    • Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.
    • My apologies, I stand corrected. Thanks for registering to mention this! And thank you for actually reaching out to the council to clarify. This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance. I shall try and do better in the future. (Please stick around to get the latest scoops on dealing with old Nissan shitboxes )
    • Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?
    • Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!
    • Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
