Not to sure about the money being better. 09 GTR ( No GPS, No Launch Control) is about $120000 that is a $60000 drop and $20000 more expensive then more this car. 2009 335I DCT about $90000 that is a $25000 drop.

I thought the ADM '09 GTR had launch control (big debate on the R35 forum about this, but it ended up being solved)

Ok so I finally got a chance to take some pictures when out for a drive.

The BMW Performance Package has made a huge noticeable difference to response and turbo sound. Not a real good idea to turn off all the assists now.

Launch is brutal now and easy 4 second times to 100km/h

Anyway still loving the drive, sound (oww that rumble sound) and comfort for the long drives we do. The looks, never get sick of the lines and the rims (aghh hot rims) Very happy till the 2012 GTR turns up

Those interested enjoy..

yeah very bloody nice.

only problem is that going by another thread in here, due to the car your driving half the members wont flash warn you of a cop hiding in the bushes...just one of the hazards of driving a pimp 335i i guess...i would still have one (and a GTR of course).

Yes I guess some people have a problem with European cars (thinking drivers are rich or snobs) but I guess its no worse then when I owned the GTT and every other person thinks your a hoon

even though your driving better then half the people on the road. (Wouldn't stop me from buying another Skyline or a GTR.)

I suppose lucky for me I drive a fair bit for a living so don't speed ( to many hidden cameras and D cars) or though sometimes you have to watch these highway on ramps. lol :whistling:

I would post in or join a BMW forum if there was a good one but in saying that i was just showing everyone what we got and still have a great love for the Skylines and GTR so Member for life i guess.

Thanks for the comments.

What does the performance package consist of?

Intake / Exhaust..?

No it is a retune (more boost andmapping change) Additional water cooler, air vents and largerventilator fan to keep things cool.

This is about the limit for factory warranty backed tuning.Heaps of options to get mega power and torque but hey 250kw @ 5500rpmand 450+ nm @ 1200 to 5000rpm is heaps when mated with the DCT. NotGTR power but the suspension, tyres, DCT, ect make the car handle andperform awesome on twist mountain roads and power is always there.

By the way it would be hard to touch exhaust as it has such a great note under throttle with a nice burble when reved, but then quite if not in sports mode. Check back tomorrow I will try and record the sound and post it here for opinions.

Just hope I will still allowed to come on cruise days.. ?

I see.

What does the additional Water Cooler, cool?

Is it for cooling the turbo / oil lines, for enhanced durability / minimize heat soak?

And yes, from my understanding, Euro exhaust systems are quite good.

Enhanced durability when under heavy stress and less heat soak from what i can determine.

They do offer the tune only without the bolt on parts so I guess it is purely if you do track work, mountain roads etc that put the car under a constant heavy load.

Exhaust burble sound during engine overrun conditions more noticeable after tune.

Very interested in the new M3 now i must say as they will possibly be a Turbo again....

Sounds good for a factory warranty backed upgrade.

I would have preferred the E92 M3 to have the 335i engine.

But the V8 seems good as it is.

True it is a high reving V8 and not to heavy so has a lot going for it. Wekk what about the new TTV8 from the M5? Mind you huge power is not everything i guess as it comes down to the overall package.

End of the day the N55 is a great engine for a 3L 6 Turbo, seems strong and has good history. I am sure if they had used it in the E92 with some more tuning it would be a wepon as i now have more torque then a stock M3 so it just needs top end work.

The new M5 would be an awesome cruiser.

But I still prefer the look of the E60 M5.

Run a tad more boost for more top end in your 335i?

come on cruises for sure, we will just stick you up the back so you dont break up the look of the convoy. in the end though its all about the good company and damn fine pies, look forward to climbing all over your nice leather interior and hearing that V8 burble at the inevitable lunch stop!

sounds like a fine package, going to keep it and mod it further after the warranty goes or keep upgrading to something new?

Funny you should both say this. Today i dropped into the tuner shop and booked in for friday morning power run to see what sort of power i am getting.

Got to talking about some work the have done on the N54 models and the want to look at the current map and see if they can play with it and possible headers makes a huge improvement.

Was just going to leave it as is but maybe just a little more work. :P Headers shouldn't void anything. Tried to post a sound file but it wont let me

    • The hot exhaust light will come on not from just the cat being blocked, but it's just a temp sensor, and it's designed to warn you to not do things like park in long grass.   If you've been pushing the motor a bit, it can cause the light to come on.   Second if the cat is rattling, I'd suspect it's not blocked, but instead falling apart inside.   The easiest "fix" until you can get a cat put back in, is to unbolt your one, bash the rest of the insides out, and then bolt it back in.   For a daily driver/street car, I am in agreeance of put a cat in the car. If it were race car I wouldn't care if it were removed.
    • No worries at all 🫡 I think the most satisfying things to make are the little bits that are just impossible to find or they're no longer manufactured. Generally I always try to replace parts with OEM wherever possible. This little project is also great because it'll never see the light of day, but strengthen these brackets so it's not just relying on the little standard screws in the headlight plastic. As soon as I saw the standard brackets and screws I thought, "well I'm not going to install with just the screws, the plastic tabs will just snap off". It's crazy how expensive everything has become yeah. But I suppose that's supply and demand; granted it's a lot easier to get brand new genuine parts these days which is fantastic 😊, I don't have to get totally reamed at the local Nissan dealer ha ha We sure are lucky we have all these manufacturers making parts these days, a few really great Australian companies too like Platinum Racing Products and Fit Mint Automotive, what a time to be alive ❤️ . I've got my eye on the RB26 head by PRP as mine has a very fine hairline crack, so that'll need to be addressed some time in the future. If you have any requests or odd things to make feel free to let me know and I can have a crack at making replacement parts ✌️
    • Thanks for sharing this, and BTW if your headlights are in good condition they are worth thousands....you might want to consider replacing them with brand new LED ones like this (https://www.nengun.com/78works/full-led-headlights-r32-skyline) and making enough profit to buy a house in Sydney
    • I'm not sure what sort of shops are nearby, but I'd expect any reasonable exhaust shop could put a cat in it that will not restrict the power that engine makes. Otherwise, if you want to remove it, short lengths that replace the cat are readily available online, search for "de-cat pipes" or "test pipes"
    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all!
