2 of my coils recently have started failing so I orderded new coils to arrive tommorow. today the car started missing a little more than usual on boost then the cat converter overheating light came on indicating the exhaust temps r too hot. i pulled over straight away and let the car cool down and babies it home the whole way.

not driving it again until I receive my new coils would the coils failing + misfire cause this to happen?

have I done any damage to my car ? just want some opinions as I'm worried due to that light coming on I've fried a piston or something ;(

please help!!

thanks.

Do you have a Power Fc? All engine warnings are shown by the cat light and on the sensor check in the hand controller.don't stress too much, you should still be able to drive the car, just don't boost and get it to a dyno

Same thing happened to my r32. I replaced coils, plugs, o2 sensor and installed a fpr and the light went away not sure which one did it but the car ran much better alot smoother even had more fuel economy. I was told by a mechanic that the o2 sensor can cause a few problems if not running properly. I wouldn't worry to much about your motor should be fine unless you fried the ass out of it

How come nobody has considered that the f**king cat converter has likely melted itself (this happens) and thus as a result is causing a HUGE restriction in the exhaust, which in turn is causing the whole bloody system to overheat

HENCE your cat converter light flashing and misfiring.

Drop the exhaust from the cat, have a look at the cat - if it's not f**ked visibly, take the car for a quick drive with only the front pipe on (at your own risk). will tell you if it's the problem. Then if you want you can just bash the guts of the cat out and stick it back on....or replace it. Whatever.
