Whining Sound On Gearbox

Hey guys, I have noticed that the whining sound of my gearbox is getting louder lately, so I think its time to fix this problem. The whining sound gets louder as I accelerate and the sound disappears when I step on the clutch. Can you guys recommend any good workshops around Adelaide (it will be better if its down south) that can change the gearbox bearings for me?

Coul be you input shaft? I know when at idle it makes a sort of whining/spinning sound, but as soon as you step on the clutch it goes away.

It is not just bearings that can make this noise. Stuffed gears do it too. Check the oil for metal.

I had a whining sound coming from around my passenger seat area, turns out it was just the missus

But seriously, drain the oil and check it for any major bits of metal. They'll usually stick to the drain plug anyway. The only way to tell exactly what's going on is to pull it apart.

its the input shaft bearing and 1-3rd synchro's

i've had my clutch out recently to replace discs, and ever since have the same whining noise, clutch in gone

so an oil change wont sort it out?

mine made a whining noise when it was cold.. but once warm enough, you couldnt hear it.. gear box oil change fixed it..
