Removing Rb26 Sump

Hey guys,

Looking to re-seal and possibly add some baffles to the sump in rb26 32gtr in the next couple of days as its got a slow leak. Being used to typical RWD layout and comparing to this engine it seem just about the whole bottom front half of the car has to be removed With alot of the stuff i'm trying to gett my head around.

Anyone have any tips for removal/reinstallation, as in any seal/fluids that will need to be replaced.

my only tip is that it's really an engine out job. some people will say it can be done in car but it probably wouldn't be any easier than just removing the engine and doing it that way.

It can be done by dropping the kframe. It's not much faster however.

They are the only 2 options really. Without a hoist forget dropping, its motor out.

Can the sump be cut out with the k-frame still on, and welded back on (I think that's what the Trust sump extension does)?

not a good idea. how do you get to the inside? and how would you test it for leaks? how would you set the pick-up height? just do it properly.

i dropped the sump on my neo 6 in a 33 had to jack the gearbox and engine up like 50mm. sostooked but thought i was gonna need a crane.
