I would be very happy if that happens, that what I am hoping for with mine when I get it all finished.

Place your bets? I semi-expect a graph that would be instinguishable from an equivalent GT3076R, but would like to see a slightly better all around result

Mick, are you still running the small can actuator with your setup? Mine is the same I believe on my GTX3071R - 14psi. I am hoping to run as much boost as I can through it when its built as it will have a WMI kit, type B Poncams etc. I wonder if I should change to an 18psi actuator...

Hey Justin yeah still using the small can man lol!

ive got pics in this thread of the numbers on the actuator if that helps if you are gunna be rinning 20+ psi you would definately be better off with the big girl!

Sorry guys but as i expected my car didnt hit the rollers today

Im devastated! Probably a good thing because its pouring at the moment with scary thunder in Western Sydney too so couldnt enjoy my boost even if i had my car!

Dying to see some numbers and more so what my girl is gunna go like with a new hair dryer!

Im gunna be ambitious with my figures and say 290kw+ Full boost bout 3700-3800rpm

So im hoping to have a dynosheet up next Monday fellas cheers Mick :D

I will check the numbers when I get home, but it looks the same from memory :( Damnit, I had the choice to get the 18psi one when I bought the kit >_< I thought it would be better to get the lower one so I could use the EBC to have low boost option too.

I dont know how much boost it will be running when the tuner gets it, but I would like to run as much as is efficient with the water methanol etc. I want to make good use of the forged bottom end :P

Yeah i want low boost to putt around on too mate by the sounds of your set up mate you will be into the 25psi zone with your mods you will see big numbers cause id imagine the lil GTX will be right into her compressor efficiency there

i thought i want to share my experience with the gtx3071r with 0.82 rear housing and 1bar actuator, which i have fitted since last xmas. To date i still haven't putted on the dyno as i don't have time and didn't worry me. I have been road tuning myself. My r33 has all the usual supports including pomcams. On street i can tell you that it is more responsive than my GCG highflow with vg30. on 4th gear the boost gets to 20psi at about 3700rpm, where as my old gcg about 4000-4100rpm.

I have been running 23psi and my z32 peaking 5.1v on the cold night and 4.95-4.99v on a low 20degree day. It is a lot stronger than the gcg turbo. the gcg with mwi, i had 275rwkw and my 255 federal rsr rear had no problem with traction in 2 gear when warm up. Now with the gtx3071r & mwi my 255 federal rsr have no chance in second gear, and in 3rd unless the tyres are warm up otherwise i get wheel spin.

i have tested 80-120km/h in 3rd gear and it took 2.7s. still haven't got my datalogit working with window 7 yet.

hence ordering 275wide r888 from Taleb. I only drive the car like 3000km a year. i think it has a bit more in it, but had already push my stocky engine enough! just have to wait until i have the fund to do the internal.

Hey zoom appreciated hearing your experience with the GTX mate sounds like its a good thing cant wait till next week to get my car back and see how hard it pulls.

Sounds like your car spins wheels a hell of a lot haha just wondering what kind of diff and suspension mods u might have? Have u had and boost control issues with the smaller actuator?

FWIW I have a 3076 on my r33. Previously fitted the generic garret 1 bar actuator and along with my profec b it was good. I have now fitted the 18psi 'big can' actuator Nd the difference is night and day. It will go on the dyno in the next fortnight to tune the ebc for it. But on the same settings boost comes on about 600rpm earlier.

Ps. Side note I did also fit poncams at the same time, but the way the turbo acts it tells me its the actuator

I would have thought it would have been more likely that the poncams would have been responsible for bringing the power curve down the rev range?

Regardless sounds like I need to find myself a "big can" actuator.... Shiiit. Anyone know where I can get one cheap? :P and anyone want to buy a Garret 14psi one?

Are you sure that there is identical pre-load on the actuator before and after?

Poncams and a possible change in pre-load could easily change how the car feels and presumably tuning as well (given the cam change).

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
