Fantastic result. Bit better than my 268kws. When does it feel like it's running out of puff, revs wise. Mine starts to feel flat after 5,500rpm just like the hi-flow I had from GCG. Which was a crap turbo by the way. Wasted a couple of grand on that one trying to get it over the 23okw mark. I have done 308,000k's in my car so I hope you look after yours and have as much fun as I have. Mind you, I'm on my second engine and 2nd gearbox and 2nd diff and 4th clutch, but hey, don't worry about all that. Engines are cheap so make sure you enjoy it.

A couple of tips. Replace your coils around every 140,000k's. Just replacing my 2nd set again now. You will need to replace all the relays attached to the engine loom and coils at 300,000k's or before if the car is thrashed on hot days alot. Heat is the enemy. I have replaced the coil harness just now and it fixed a little miss in the top end. Have alook at engine mounts and gearbox as well, they will let go in spectacular fashion if left with any defects from constant cicuit work. So many things to do so I'll stop before I make myself stress.

*cough* I near sprayed my computer with coffee, my gt3071 sr20 curve is nearly identical, even peak power. I won't post it as i don't want to take away from micks results as that is awesome for a .63 IW on a stock manifold. No boost control issues either which is a relief.

Out of interest, what boost controller do you run mick as i would have thought it would hit full boost a lot sooner (under 3k) based on my old rb25 results.

Your setup is wayyy different, this is bolting on a turbo, intercooler, injectors and afm to a stock setup. Not fair to compare.

Full boost under 3000rpm is ludicrous on this type of setup. Even the most responsive of turbos that hit the ceiling at 240-250rwkw cant make 20psi by 3000rpm.

It's doable. 2 of mine when i was trying to get it right on the rb25, unfortunately not showing 20 by 3k in either of these as we were battling boost control issues. On road it would crack 20psi by 3k in 4th on a flat road easily.

Same basic setup as Mick's but with a .63 and a set of drop in cams.

I heard you might be looking for a turbo, liz, I'll pm you the sr results

edit: the bottom one was boost control via the right foot so not even wide open throttle, hence the really bad curve.

Not making 288rwkw on 98 fuel, I dont think its possible to get 20psi by 3000rpm.

Increasing the ramp rate can move the response earlier too. Mine hits 20psi by 3200rpm (9 second ramp rate) but only makes 245rwkw on 98 fuel.

Graphs look like they are from a auto?

Here us another GTX3071 with poncams on a neo rb25det.

Pretty damn impressive for a 71 on only 15psi in the top range. Apparently the boost is wrong on the graph, it comes on a lot sooner than it indicates, an issue with the sensor having lag apparently.

Can read about it all here http://forum.nistune...&t=950&start=60

tuner was very surprised with the result as well.

Cheers Lithium it felt quite good with the unfinished tune which it made 266kw and the little squirt i gave it last night it came on a bit sooner and felt really strong i shifted from 2nd to 3rd at bout 5000rpm but she was starting to break traction at 4000rpm lol. Ive never heard a 25 with a 3076 tbh but its quite whistly ill try putting a vid up of it on the dyno and ill let you be the judge

Nice work - glad that went smoothly, nice stout amount of power... definitely not a normal GT3071R :D

Tbh without any prompting I'd have thought it was a GT3076R dyno plot, but dyno plot doesn't tell the whole story - after you've had some time to get acquianted it'll be interesting to see how you find it. Out of interest, with that 11blade wheel does the GTX3071R have the same kind of anti-surge whistle craziness the GT3076Rs do?

Im running a HKS EVC 6 boost controller dave i still think there is bit of fiddling with the controller to be done yet to help bring it on bit sooner

Mine's absolutely silent, are you sure its not the BOV leaking or something else?

Thanks Jeff i didnt go for more boost on the dyno but when my controller wasnt set up properly it easily shot up to near 27psi and started spinning 3rd gear at bout 90km/h :whistling:

Great work Mick!!

Did you try going any higher with boost just to see how the turbo handles it? My understanding is thats where the GTX shines.

Hey Gary cheers for the tips mate they are duely noted  to be honest even when the tune was incomplete it felt like it pulled all the way 7500rpm and unfortunately i havent seen lotsa revs yet.

Id actually like to thank everybody in here who gave me advice on my setup because you guys really did save me money and steered me in the right direction with my car! :worship:

Im pretty sure its all induction noise scotty well i hope it is lol! surely the 4 or 5 lads that were all over my car while it was on the rollers woulda picked up on it

    • You can try capping the power steering idle up valve at both ends if it's old. The valve and the intake manifold. That is something that is known to fail in Toyotas with age and it will suck power steering fluid into the intake and burn it in the engine which can cause issues. Then bleed it again with engine off first. Do like 30+ lock to lock turns with the front wheels off the ground.
    • Hi Brent, I am wondering if you ever worked this out? I have upgraded this unit to a newer one and everything works bar the reverse camera, so i really want to know what plugs are what so I can patch the camera through. many thanks in advance Mike

    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
    • Yeah, the plan is to just put some black rubber vacuum line caps over them to "hide" them a bit I don't want to trim them in cause I need to put the OEM box back on at some stage
