Im working Saturday too but should be home around the 4 zone id say give us a buzz and hopefully our timing is good because im curious to see what u think having driven many turbo set ups

hmmm Saturday I am out your way....

Motor is completely stock no cams mate dont know bout anymore boost im running around 21psi now so i think its fairly high for a stock motor lol it did spike up to nearly 27psi for a little while before i noticed and backed off but it didnt ping or anything so should have plenty of fuel with my Tomei pump and 850cc PE's but it did spin my 255's in 3rd gear at bout 90kph haha it felt awesome!:teehee:

just want to compare to mine in regarding to the air flow rate. Are you intending to run higher boost? do you have cam?

Gday Harry :nyaanyaa: yeah it did fix it mate CHEERS! found some english instructions now so im bout to go have a play with the controller because its still running high for example its set at 15psi on the controller now but goes up to 19-20psi but its stable and not spiking like it used to so i think its to do with the boost offset settings or the likes but ill be back on soon when i have play and take her for a squirt

Did gravity fix your EVC or what Mick?

You never got back to me with a full result

with cams it will bring your boost on earlier and give you atleast 10kw everywhere. Yeah, i've been running 20psi with gcg for the last 5 years and now with the gtx i'm running 23psi on the stocker. Finger cross! lucky i don't drive alot. Maybe 255-275 semi slick time for you!!

So what is your rpm when you hit 20psi?

Haha yeah i dont drive mine much either ive had my car for 12 months now and done about 2500-3000kms. In second gear its bout 4000rpm and it really starts to haul ass all the way to 7500rpm 3rd is probably around 3700rpm maybe slightly less :whistling: been seriously thinking about poncams to help with lag because after being used to the 200kw and stock turbo response the lag was really noticable even though it drove much nicer off boost though i must say! But when it comes on now my smile is probably 2 inches wider now its simply alot of fun to drive now. So if i could get it boosting earlier it wouldnt really be that far off stock response that would be UNREAL!

Believe it or not my car doesnt really spin wheels mate even in 1st gear when you put your foot down! it just hooks up its awesome! When my boost controller settings are sweet ill probably put 25psi into her briefly and see how that feels or get an E85 tune which i initially was gunna do  i love it!

Mate that is a sight better than what mine did the other night and ever since I put it down in 3rd. It slipped the clutch and smashed the limiter as soon as it came on boost in 3rd. Even driving from no boost to full boost it starts to slip.

You must be stoked with your car now, I know I am with mine (apart from the clutch) My grin is just like yours biggrin.gif

Thats bit of a bummer mate but once your clutch is sorted the fun will begin good luck with it!

Yeah i am stoked with it but she only fried 3rd when my boost hit 26.6psi haha on 21psi it just sits down and boogies i love it!

My blitz gauge only goes to 1.5 bar and i watched the needle fly straight to the bump stop! the motor didnt make any noises it shouldnt but i backed off anyways lol!

The smile is what its all about mate and if your smile is like mine you are very much a happy man too

More lift + more duration = less gas velocity at low revs

So even if the actual RPM that max boost is reached is lower, the car will have less power off boost

Something that does help is VCT, don't think it brings on boost any earlier but gives it more off boost pull.

You could do something funky with retarding the ignition timing massively as that will get you boost in idle, but you'd want it switch controlled otherwise it will be horrible to drive and f**k you economy.

Well i dont want it any doughier off boost so that rules cams out for me! It feels good the way it is and once my tune is finished it will be better!:merli:

My car is a 97 33 so itd have vct yeah? I bought HKS cam gears and timing belt which arent installed is there any benefits to installing them apart from them looking pretty in my engine bay??pinch.gif

Its not as simple as doing this, you wont make boost on idle, the engine just isn't producing enough exhaust gas just sitting there. Rally cars that have anti-lag require a fair amount of revs and basically misfire certain cylinders and play with fuel and timing. It's not real great for the engine either I dont think but they throw a new engine at the car every rally

All R33 GTS-t's have VCT

I thought the anti lag set ups worked by basically pumping fuel into the exhaust manifold? I guess thats just probably 1 of the set ups they have played around with

    • So my R32 GTST has been sitting around at my old mum and dad's place for a few years now...and it's time to bring it home. Main issue I have is that she hasn't been started in about 5 years or so, so I'm not too keen on just kicking it over and hoping that RB20 reputation for being un-killlable extends to long periods of neglect. My plan is to get it running there so I can move it around,  then get it towed back to my place where I can start working on it properly. The old folks driveway is a bad place to start a project like that. I'm getting old too and also haven't stuffed around with cars since forever, so kinda learning this stuff again. So far I've siphoned out all the shitty old fuel and topped up the coolant (thought it was fully dry but took 2 litres to fill the radiator). Planning on hitting the rusty rotors with some brake cleaner in case the tow truck driver gets a bit gung ho loading it up. As far as oil, it's got plenty although it's now dark in colour and obviously needs a change sooner rather than later. Was doing some YouTube research and was planning to hand-crank the motor from the harmonic balancer with a 37mm socket and breaker bar, removing the spark plugs and spraying some "fogging oil" in the holes but there's not much room to get in there with the radiator fan right up against it. Jacking the car up takes too long and I can't leave it half done between visits. So now I'm was thinking of cranking a few times it using the starter (removing plugs and spraying oil first). Reckon there's any chance it will do more damage that way if something's stuck inside the motor? Should I really change all fluids completely before I go any further? Grateful for any other advice you guys have to get her going safely too.
    • Well, that's just wierd. Amongst a string of seemingly benign introduction and request for help threads, we have this one with a link.... to another, unrelated thread inside this forum. Colour me suspicious.
    • Sorry to say, I think that is a pretty long shot on this forum.....
    • sorry, "info" from Lumley here: https://www.lsvcarinsurance.com.au/about-nrma-insurance
    • So it looks like Lumleys are closing other than in Victoria, with the kind offer that another brand from the evil IAG multi-glomerate (NRMA) might offer insurance under their price and conditions if they want to, as an alternative. Lunmleys was good for us because they covered JDM and USDM imports, had 2 car "stable" insurance (ie, insure many cars but max of 2 can be driven at once), covered mods, reasonable overall prices. So, with them gone, who else should I consider? Shannons is last on my list, we used to be insured with them until we found they were helpful at taking premiums but much less helpful at claim time.
