Yeah i got cold feet from all the negative feedback bout these housings Artz and took everybodies advice...................... EVENTUALLY anyways :whistling:

damnit..I was actually more interested to see the result with the sonic housing..

Oh well..good luck with it :)

yeah you wont regret it thats for sure...I was just really interested to see what it would do :/

chances are it wouldnt have made 300kw on pulp..but it would be a solid perfprmer regardless.

.

The thing I dont undestand is why do these companies keep selling these housings if they have been proven not to work?

i mean is the market for a housing that bolts on to a shitty stock dump pipe but doesnt perform really that big to justify their continued production...?

Just seems there is a lot of heresay and dyno evidence of them not performing so well but how much worse do they actually perform in comparison on the road...is there half a second in it on a drag strip or .1...

i would really like to know..

Yeah i agree mate but i didnt really wanna be the guinea pig with this housing. If it was a .75 like they are saying it woulda been responsive and still make decent numbers too and filled the void between the .63 and the .82 with what i have now is a proven recipe i guess so i thought i wouldnt change the recipe and hopefully get the most outta my ride that i can with all the hard earnt ive thrown at it

No one says they don't work. The issue is that they seem to choke >450hp compressors. If Mick wanted to buy a GT3071 with this type of housing then I would expect it to work quite well. Once you move into the next size up there is a risk that you pay the premium for the sexy compressor and get the performance of something smaller (and cheaper) anyway.

yes well if your paying someone to install you made the right decision...last thing you want is to fork out for another days labour to swap it when it didnt work..

See Im a spanner man, I would of done all the labour myself so the loss isnt so great... ;)

and yes turbo swap and servise in a day is possible..im a muppet with a bag f tools and I can do it in my carport.

So should be a no brainer for Jez.

Im a plumber/boilermaker by trade mate i reckon i woulda stumbled through it ok even tho i havent done it before but ive spent too much coin on parts so im gunna b doin a crash course with jez n learn the tricks of the trade cos ill only need to be shown once to get my shit together :) haha

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time.
    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
