i can think of a few possible issues. first would be the height of the engine. second might be length of the engine and gearbox. 3rd would be the weight of the engine. it would be much heavier than the rb20, so it will probably affect handling as well.

having said that, i would love to see it done, and it would be a weapon to drive, just don't think it would be the easiest or most practical engine conversion.

maybe turbowerx might give you a few pointers

but how much money do you want to spend?

this will be a custom-fab trial and error nightmare...

definately do-able in QLD. i believe its legal to put up to a 5.6L forced induction engine into an R33 weighing 1390kg. so a 32 weight 1280 or whatever should be fine to fit a 4.0L. but as to your state i wouldnt know.

In nsw any vehicle with an engine conversion is subject to a weight multiplier.

For a vehicle with a factory curb weight if 1100kg plus

NA engine conversions curb weight x 4.82= maximum engine cc

Forced induction curb weight x 4.0 = maximum cc

The RTA say an r32 GTR is 1480kg so the engine can be a max of 5920cc forced

A gtst is 1290kg and can have up to 5160cc

Ford engine fit well and truely under that obviously.

Reliability of my RB26 is making me seriously consider doing this. Are there any other engine conversions out there that are worth mentioning? Are there many cars on here that have egnine conversions? Curious to see what they did and what they think etc.
